Today’s kids growing up here have experienced everything from World Wars I and II (both fought within or near Park Ridge) to Hurricane Katrina which devastated New Orleans – all while living within walking distance of each other! Today’s economy relies heavily on services provided by businesses located downtown such as City Hall, Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company Headquarters; however much recent development has taken place along North Ave., including two large shopping malls – One anchored by Sears & JCPenney and another anchored by Marshall Field’s department store – both built in recent years are rapidly becoming popular with suburban families looking for more economic opportunity close to home! With so many opportunities available right here at home for children seeking education and work experience together as one cohesive community, there is no doubt that Park ridge will continue grow into tomorrow – quite literally!!

It was laid out in 1857 by John Denton and named for George Washington Park, who had been president of the United States when it was first developed. The village of Deerfield annexed Park Ridge in 1915. Park Ridge became an incorporated town on April 14, 1927. The name "Park" originated from Washington Park in nearby Deerfield Township which also included what is now parts of McHenry County and Cook County. In 1972, after several years of negotiation, the Village Council voted to annex portions of neighboring townships to form a new city with a population exceeding 20000 people; this annexation still remains an option for residents today. In 1987, following Pioneer Leasing's acquisition of two abandoned gas stations east of town (the former I-80 bridge site and one adjacent to Deerfield High School), newly elected Mayor Tom Behan proposed that the two sites be combined into one large industrial park anchored by both businesses and residential properties creating what would eventually become known as "Pioneer Leasing City". However, this proposal met with significant opposition from some residents who felt they had not received proper compensation for their lost land while others saw it as another example of business greed taking away their homes; ultimately it fell through due to lack of community consensus on how best to deal with such large redevelopment projects within their own neighborhoodspace). In recent years there have been several attempts by developers to redevelop or expand Pioneer Leasing City into a large mixed-use complex including: 1) plans for a major office tower next to Deerfield High School 2) development on adjacent property near Interstate 80 3) development around McCormick Place - all without success so far
The Park Ridge community was founded in 1847 on a tract of land donated by Levi P. Morton. The community grew quickly, and in 1868 it formed the town of Park Ridge. In 1916, the town merged with neighboring village of Arlington to form the current city of Chicago.
