Park Ridge is a small village in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,332 at the 2010 census. Park Ridge is located in the northern part of the county and is bordered by Sugar Grove to the east, Bloomingdale to the south, and South Holland to the west. It is one of eight villages in Cook County. The village was founded on May 12, 1854 as a result of an effort by three farmers named John A. Parkin, Abram Schieffer and Moses Kapp to purchase 280 acres (12 km²) of land from David Brownell for $4 per acre. The Village was organized on July 1, 1855 under the name "Rockford". In 1860, Samuel Morse moved his family from Batavia (now Danville), Illinois to Park Ridge after becoming interested in earlylegraphy work in that state. Samuel's son Alfred also lived in Park Ridge during this time period and later became a famous US comedian/actor known as Alfred Hitchcock
Park Ridge was founded by George Washington in 1812. It became a city on November 3, 1831. The first mayor of Park Ridge was James K. Polk.
