Park Ridge, Illinois is a suburb of Chicago, located in the West Side of the city. The population was 26,813 at the 2010 census. Park Ridge is bordered on the north by Lake Michigan and on the east by Ravenswood. The village of Yorkville lies to its south and west. The first settlers in what would become Park Ridge were farmers who arrived from New England in 1786. In 1833, John Bedingfield donated land for a town site that would eventually be named after him, Bedingfield Township. The town was chartered on March 2, 1835 and had a population of about 100 people. By 1840, there were 350 residents living in Park Ridge proper and another 50 or so scattered throughout the surrounding rural areas. In 1847, a local businessman named James Hays purchased 500 acres (2 km²) of land adjacent to modern-day Yorkville for $3 per acre (1/4 km²). This property became known as Hays Acres because it served as both an agricultural reserve and grazing area for livestock until it was sold to Eben Upton in 1906. At this time, Upton renamed his tract of land “Upton” after himself and began developing it into what would become Park Ridge. The first section of what is now Park Ridge was mapped out on February 14th, 1868 when commissioners from three adjoining towns – Hyde Park (to the east), North Lawndale (to the west) and Oak Lawn (to the south) met at Uptown Hall to plan out their respective boundaries for future development within their respective borders - which then applied to all future residential developments within those borders too! Because Streets were not yet built within these new boundaries like they are today we can still find vestiges of these early planning efforts all around us! Street names from this period include: Maple Leaf Road (now Prairie Avenue), Lilac Lane (now Elmhurst Avenue), Magnolia Drive (now Elmhurst Boulevard), Hawthorn Lane (now Hawthorne Place), Persimmon Lane (now Peoria Avenue), Apple Valley Road (now Apple Valley Drive). There are also some great trailsblues like Knob Creek Path which starts right near our house - you can follow it all sorts of directions! It wasn’t until 1907 that someone actually started irrigating crops on what would later become Hays Acres! This irrigation system helped bring life back to farming operations in Park Ridge as well as other nearby villages such as North Lawndale and Hyde Park during this time period - helping make these villages even more thriving during those difficult times! It wasn’t until 1924 that Holy Cross Church was erected here in park ridge proper - marking one significant milestone towards community growth here! As mentioned earlier; due to Streets being built only sporadically throughout this entire time period & because Parks weren’t always developed evenly either; certain areas experienced increased levels of development while others saw less activity or even abandonment altogether! Over time we have seen many changes take place within our community with some developers buying up properties outright while others continue developing them through redevelopment etc.; but one thing has always remained constant & that is our love for our amazing hometown #parkridgeil

The structure was completed in 1850 and served as the seat for Winnetka County until 1790 when it moved to Rockford. In 1858, Chicago annexed Winnetka County and made Park Ridge part of its city Limits. It wasn’t until 1915 that Park Ridge was designated as its own municipality. Today, Park Ridge is an upscale community with a rich history dating back to before civilization even reached this area. Its many attractions include beautiful parks, elegant architecture, high-end businesses and top-notch schools. It is also home to some interesting museums such as the University Museum which traces American culture from pre-colonial times to today; and The Palmer House which provides insights into life at various periods in Cook County’s history including those years when Park Ridge was ruled by Native Americans.
The Park Ridge community was founded in 1878 by James and Sarah Parks. The first post office was established in 1881. The community grew rapidly due to its location, access to resources, and the growing reputation of its schools. In 1907, the city of Chicago annexed Park Ridge, making it a part of the city. In 1916, the City Council approved a plan to demolish all of the old homes in Park Ridge and replace them with new ones. The project was completed in 1917 and created an uproar among the residents who were forced to abandon their homes. However, the new homes were much more affordable than those that had been demolished and helped to preserve the neighborhood's character.
