Park Forest is a small city in the northern part of Illinois, United States. The population was 9,859 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Park Forest was founded in 1871 as a horse and buggy stop on the main road from Jacksonville to Elgin. It became an incorporated town in 1892. The current name comes from a local park, which served as a family farm for many years before it was donated to the city for use as public land. The first settlers in Park Forest were farmers who came up from Ohio in 1851 and 1852. They bought 5 acres (2 hectares) of land near where Park Forest now stands and began to grow crops. In 1870, they built a store and post office on what is now Main Street. By 1880, they had also built some homes and started to sell goods grown on their property: apples, flowers, eggs, cheese, harnesses, saddles… all types of items that were characteristic of early-20th century America. In 1902-1903, Mayor John Fenton purchased 1/4 mile (0 kilometer) of woodland east of Main Street from four private landowners for $1 million dollars so that Park Forest could have its own park! This donation made possible much needed improvements such as Putnam Lake and Elmhurst Avenue Civil Rights Park today! The park has been home to World Series games since 1903 when Chicago's White Sox played against Boston Red Sox; it also hosted the 1948 Olympics Men’s Water Polo Championship final game between Yugoslavia national team and newly formed Israel Olympic team In 1924–1925 President Calvin Coolidge dedicated Elmhurst Avenue Civil Rights park which includes commemorative plaques honoring African American pioneers who lived here prior to 1964 “when all white people were invited into this community without discrimination” The mayoralty passed away in 1933 but street names continued unchanged until 1965 when new streets were named after mayors including John Filburn (1935-1944), Harold Washington (1945-1963), George Romney (1964-1968), Edward Mondon (1969-1973), Richard Jakielski (1974-1978), Dan Quayle (1979–1981). On November 8th 1975 fire destroyed most businesses within blocks radius around downtown including banks & Post Office & damaged over 100 buildings with damage estimated at $200M total ($102M+ interest)….This tragic event created intense community pressure resulting in City Council passing ordinances prohibitingvernight parking along Euclid Ave

During World War II many people in America started using firearms for hunting purposes which caused an increase in gun violence throughout America due to out-of-control shootings by individuals that had no reason to have a weapon other than anger or frustration Outgunned citizens turned against their governments as a result which led to even more bloodshed across America! In reality there was never any justification for these shootings given that most civilians did not own any firearms nor had they ever participated in an open-air shooting match where they could have easily killed everyone present without consequence

On January 1st, 1871 ParkForest annexation added to Chicago created a new municipality with over 10K residents within its borders
