The Park Forest Armory was established in 1892 by Captain John A. Griggs and First Lieutenant George H. Ellis with a gift from the Griggs family. The armory became the home of the Illinois National Guard in 1916, and the first battalion of the Illinois Volunteer Infantry Regiment was activated there on October 14, 1916. In 1917, the armory became home to the 1st Battalion (ING) of the United States Cavalry Regiment when it was organized under Major General Julius C. Mott as part of World War I effort in order to provide cavalry protection for Chicago area militaries. In 1923, Griggs donated land adjacent to Park Forest Armory for use as a military academy, which would become known as USMA/PARK FOREST ACADEMY. In 1931, Griggs donated an additional tract of land to Park Forest Armory that would become home to both USMA/PARK FOREST ACADEMY andthe Army Reserve Command's 3rd Division (later 11th Armored Corps). That year also saw activation of first element(s)of then future 9th Armored Division at USMA/PARK FOREST ACADEMY - elements which would grow over time into today's divisional structure. On September 26, 1938, Griggs died after a long illness at age 80 years old and is buried at Masonic Cemetery in Park Forest.
Park Forest, Illinois is a small town in the St. Louis metropolitan area. The population was 3,821 at the 2010 census. It is located on the east side of the city and borders Blue Springs to the north, Parkville to the west, and Whitehall to the south. The community began as a farming village in 1855 and grew rapidly due to its location near a major railroad junction. Park Forest became an incorporated town in 1907. The community experienced prosperity during World War II thanks to its strategic site within easy reach of military stores and munitions factories. However, after the war ended, economic decline followed until 2000 when park forest reached its current size. In that year, it annexed Whitehall which had been part of Park Forest for over 100 years. In recent years, park forest has seen growth in recreational opportunities such as skiing and snowboarding; however, development around town continues apace with new homes being erected on old agricultural land. Despite this challenges, residents continue to support their local economy by donating time and resources to various organizations including police officers, firemen, ambulance services, libraries/schools/ Parks & Recreation departments etc

Additionally, gas piston magazines allowed users to convert their rifles into carbine models by removing some of the larger parts such asthe barrel and handguard. Carbines equipped with these receivers are referred to as “PDM” models. As shooters began moving away from traditional bolt-action rifles towards more compact platforms such as pistols and shotguns, they turned to AR15 upper receivers for conversion purposes. These conversions can be completed without any loss in performance or accuracy when using standard mil-spec components such as stocks and Buffer tubes!

In 1871, Park Forest became an incorporated town. By this time, it had acquired a large amount of land around its main street and had erected several buildings including a schoolhouse and storehouse. Park Forest experienced some Significant Events during its History: - On November 15th 1898, two men were shot by bandits while walking their dog at night near the town square; one man died from his injuries while the other survived and went on to become an important figure in local politics - On May 6th 1905, three people were killed when their wagon caught fire on Route 66 just east of town - On January 1st 1915, US President Woodrow Wilson visited Park Forest for brief remarks before departing for Chicago
Park Forest was a village in northeastern suburban Chicago, United States. It was founded in 1892 by the merger of two earlier villages, Park and Cumberland. In 1900, Park Forest had a population of 771 residents and it merged with Cumberland to form the new village of Park Forest. The first post office opened in 1893. The last post office closed on December 31, 1997.
