In 1925, following annexation by the city, gambling prohibition was lifted and substantial development began which included construction of an industrial park including a steel plant and other manufacturing businesses. By 1928, PALO HILLS had reached its peak with over 100 businesses employing over 1,000 people producing goods for local consumption or export; nightlife also flourished with theaters such as "The Majestic" serving up plays every night along with dance halls such as "The Palladium" hosting popular bands like Benny Goodman's Orchestra and Harry James & His Orchestra nightly during prohibition era times; sports were also popular with many clubs/arenas being built throughout town including: "Hoosiers", "Boys' Club", "Eagles". In addition to all this activity there were several schools operated within PALO HILLS boundaries such as Stonington High School located on State Street just east of Elmhurst Avenue while Downers Grove South Side High School served students between Elmhurst Avenue and Howard street just north of State Street; both schools remain open today providing opportunities for residents to participate in their respective school communities through extracurricular activities like music appreciation groups etc.; With these institutions came clubhouses/gyms/spas available for residents to use during their leisure time making PALOS HILLS one stop shopping destination unto itself even well into into later years notwithstanding annexations by neighboring towns which caused some decrease in population size but still saw significant economic growth averaging over 20% annually throughout most any given year leading up until about 1991 when Mayor Tom Barrett initiated efforts to bring about urban renewal which resulted in bulldozing most if not all pre-existing housing stock thereby decreasing population size by more than 50%. Today PALOS HILLS continues its rapid growth rate with nearly 400 businesses employing nearly 3,500 people generating an average annual income approaching $100 million making it one of America's most vibrant cities offering quality public education systems along side world-class hospitals like Mount Sinai Medical Center - one half mile from downtown -[1] as well as much needed new infrastructure projects like Interstate 95 having been reconstructed entire within 5 ½ years bringing massive jobs and dollars right across town creating countless new homesites! And all this while keeping its typical smalltown feel complete with tight-knit community spirit that has helped make PALOS HILLS an extremely prospering city indeed!

Palmer, an officer of the Illinois militia who had helped win a war against Mexico. The town grew rapidly, and by 1870 it had a population of over 1,000 people. In 1872, Palos Hills became the state capital of Illinois, and remains so today. Over the years, the town has been home to many famous residents, including Abraham Lincoln and Ulysses S. Grant.
