In 1853, the first patent for what would become Palos Hills was granted to Giovanni da Vergato and his sons Pietro and Antonio. The village of Vergato was founded on land that now makes up part of the city of Chicago. In 1871, brothers Lorenzo and Angelo Parente bought 1,000 acres (400 ha) northwest of Chicago from Moses Backus for $10 per acre ($ today). They named their tract "Rosiwood" in honour of their mother's birthplace in Florence, Italy. Parente also donated land to establish a public school district which included Palos Hills. The village served as both Township and Village seat until it incorporated as a Town on November 3rd, 1903 under the name "Vergatto". In 1905-1907 three branches were added to Kane County: Iroquois Heights (later Westchester), Plainfield and River Forest - making Palos Hills one hundred fifty-sixth township in Illinois. On July 9th 1907 residents elected Vincenzo Amendola Director of Schools from Plainfield Township with a mandate to improve conditions within the township schools while keeping tuition low so that more students could attend local high school; this led to increased enrollment at local high schools through annexations into other townships during World War I/II caused by shortages created by industrial growth throughout Cook County causing families to move out into different areas where they could find affordable housing along with jobsWWI prohibition had made it difficult for many businesses owners like those running breweries etc.,to open up shop again after prohibition ended WWI resulted in an oversupplyof goods shipped into America resulting in prices being depressed

In 1939, after World War II ended, many American soldiers returned home and moved into Peoria Township where they founded their own townships; however, PalOS Hils remain largely deserted today due to lack of interest or support from local authorities
The Palos Hills village was founded in 1848 by Amos Kendall and his family. The village became a city in 1871, and it was merged into the metropolis of Chicago in 1896.
