In fall 2006, Northwestern IL announced that its first major new school building would be located adjacent to its current main campus – a $200 million project that will add nearly 100 acres (40 hectares) of new space including a library/conference center/theater complex as well as housing for approximately 1,000 students and staff members on two sites – one near Wrigley Field and one just east of State Street inside what is now NLC’s Metro Campus shopping mall complex.
