Gun chokes, also known asTechnical drawing Restriction Devices (TDRDs), are devices that were used in the early days of firearms to restrict how much ammunition a person could purchase. Gun chokes were originally designed to prevent people from shooting too many rounds at once and caused accuracy problems for shooters because they would have to aim carefully to ensure each round hit its target. In 1859, Daniel Webster was the first American politician to introduce a bill into Congress seeking restrictions on gun purchasing and use. The bill was passed and became law in 1860, defining “a sporting rifle” as any rifle which had been registered with the government and was not fitted with a muzzleloading breech block or other means of loading more than six rounds per minute. This definition effectively banned all handguns except those made by Colt Firearms Manufacturing Company. With gun chokes becoming less common in society, they fell out of favor and were last used in 1934 when President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed an executive order banning military sale and possession of automatic weapons with certain modifications.

Oak Park, Illinois is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 54,715 at the 2010 census. It is the second most populous city in Chicago after Chicago Heights. The first Europeans to visit what is now Oak Park were French traders and missionaries working on a fur trading mission from 1763 to 1766. They named their new settlement "Ile d'Or" (Island of Gold). He thought it might be worth exploring because there was goldbearing quartz rock nearby but no other confirmations were found until1841 when prospector Augustus Earle located copper ore within minutes of his discovery stake being driven into the ground by fellow prospector George Armstrong Cushing at what is now Harrison Township three miles south-southwest of Oak Park Boulevard on land owned by Cushing's older brother Moses Fenton Cushman.
