This type of social activity helped keep people engaged in firearms culture while also providing an opportunity for learning about various types of projectiles and armament available on the market at that time.

Oak Park is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 96,745 at the 2010 census. It is the seventh-largest city in Illinois and the largest in the Chicago metropolitan area. The city is bordered by Lake Michigan to the north, Midway Airport to the east, North Avenue to the south and Calumet City to the west. The original name of Oak Park was Elmhurst. In 1847, David Heald erected a sawmill on White River near what is now State Street and began operations as Heald's Mills Company. By 1860, his mills had become Heald & Whitney Manufacturing Company and by 1871 they were renamed Heald Brothers Millinery Company. On July 1, 1881, Elmhurst became a city under Act No. 527 of 1881 (42 Statutes at Large), which granted cities such as Elmhurst "full civil rights." The new city charter provided for an elected mayor and council with power "to regulate commerce and fix rates for streets and other public works." In 1907 Mayor John Larkin asked Revs Frederick Waring (founder of Trinity Episcopal Church) and Jesse Haines (a grocery store owner) to come up with a plan for improving quality of life in downtown Oak Park; their plan called for streetlights on every block within one mile of each business center; sidewalks throughout; more parks; more cultural events; more than half-acre per day given away free to residents who kept lawn mowers toned down or never used them; electric streetlights installed along Dearborn Street between Randolph Road and Main Street in 1909 In 1911 Revs Waring & Haines founded First Presbyterian Church while Revs John Aiken gave $5,000 towards construction On October 20th 1916 Emanuel Swedenborg delivered an address entitled "The Unity of God" during services at First Presbyterian Church honoring Drusilla Griggs Payson who was well known nationally as an author then living in Evanston (now Chicago). Mrs Emma Goldman also attended that evening After Woodrow Wilson was elected president on November 4th 1916 he offered her membership into his cabinet but she turned him down because she believed he did not understand capitalism . Mrs Goldman then donated all her books from her personal library to be stored at Northwestern University Library where they remain today

This store was very popular with local residents because it sold high-quality clothing at an affordable price
Oak Park was first settled in 1814 by a band of Michigan Indians. The first house on the site was built by John Sibley, a settler from Michigan. In 1833, Oak Park became part of the county of Cook in Illinois. On November 5, 1847, the county was renamed Cook County and Oak Park became a part of that county. On December 3, 1868, Oak Park became a city and its first mayor was Mayor George W. Brownell.
