Northlake, Illinois is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 24,521 at the 2010 census. It is the largest city in Cook County by population and the second-largest city in Illinois after Chicago. Northlake is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The first settlers to what would become Northlake were farmers on a small farm near present-day Willard Avenue and McKinley Road. In 1836, Jens Olsen arrived with his family from Norway and started out farming northwest of Evanston. He named his farm Northlake because of its location in northeasterly territory then under U.S. control as part of the Northwest Territory. The town site was surveyed by George Washington Cullum in 1839 and laid out by him and other early settlers on April 2 that year with land east of Willard Avenue taken from John Sitton's farmstead on what became Park Street and north of Route 22 (later I-55). At first there were only a few families living here; however, over time they grew into an active community which hosted religious services, school assemblies, dances, picnic gatherings and other events until World War II when most industrial development took place outside the community boundaries due to geographical challenges such as nearby suburbs having larger populations than Northlake itself could support without compromising access to jobs or resources essential for life within its limits. In 1957 local officials organized a commemorative parade down Main Street honoring members of the town's pioneer families who had left behind an important legacy including: Mrs. A., Mrs. B., Mr./Mrs./Mr.(?), Pte./Pte.(?), Capt./Capt.(?), Sgt./Sgt.(?) who fought for America during World War II; Harry Sitton (of Park Street), Dora Lundgren (of Wilcox Road), Everett Egan (a Norwegian refugee) & Benny Hjelmeland (a Swede) all natives of Northlake back then too What made this special was not just that these individuals had chosen to leave their homes but also that they had participated actively in both sides during one Of history’s great conflicts! Some still reside today among our residents along with many descendants from those original pioneers Thanks to them we can continue living our lives proud knowing that our ancestors did so much more than just settle down—they built something beautiful here!

Northlake is a small town located in McHenry County, Illinois. The population was 1,622 at the 2000 census. Northlake is one of the oldest communities in McHenry County and has been called "the heart of agricultural central Illinois." The town was founded in 1827 by John A. North and his family. Northlake became an incorporated village in 1912 and a city in 1959. Today, Northlake is an active community with a variety of businesses and cultural events that bring people together from all over the Midwest. The history of Northlake begins with John A. North, who came to America in 1827 as part of the Land Grant Movement. After years of struggling to make a living farming land he received from President James K. Polk, John A.North decided to start a new life by moving to what is now McHenry County, Illinois on August 15th, 1827. At first he named his new place "Hallowe'en", after his native parish back home in Scotland but quickly changed it to Northlake due to its location as the center of agricultural central Illinois at that time (northwest corner of present day McHenry County). John A.'s wife Juletta started housekeeping for their new arrivals and soon enough there were six families living at "Hallowe'en". With help from local farmers they began raising corn, wheat,issue seed oats etc., which they sold to neighboring farmers for goods or transport across central Illinois on horseback or wagons drawn by teamsters (and later railroad cars). This economic activity allowed them to build up their own infrastructure such as roads and water systems which still serve the community today (thank you Ryan Interurban Railroad!). John A.'s descendants continued farmsteading until 1925 when they sold all their property except for a few acres located east of present-day South Prairie Road which served as the nucleus for developing what would become known as downtown Northlake – including John's original store building that still stands today! In 1957 cityhood resulted from incorporation; however many residents kept traditions alive like holding annual Fourth OF July celebrations at South Prairie Road where picnics are always enjoyed! This long history reflects not only how well-off these early settlers were but also how tight-knit everyone felt within their small town – something that continues into modern times with social media being so omnipresent!North Lake remains an active community full of busy citizens who appreciate its unique culture and rich history!
Northlake is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 13,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area and forms the eastern border of the University of Chicago campus. Northlake was founded on November 20, 1892 by George W. Denny and his family after they sold their farm just west of present-day Northlake Avenue to John P. Dimock for $1,000. The town was named after General Lafayette who had died less than two months before its founding. The first post office in Northlake was established on December 4, 1892 by Major J. Hinton with seven other towns in Cook County as part of a postal district created under the Ohio River Navigation Act that year. At its peak in 1902, Northlake had a population of 2,519 residents; it had shrunk to 1,584 by 1910 due to an increase in commuting to Chicago and other areas outside the town proper. The last post office closed on October 15th, 1989; all mail sent into or out of town now goes through Aurora various times each day (except during rush hours). In 1908–09 there were plans for a new north-south highway from Cicero eastward but these were abandoned when funds became available instead for building a signalized road from Belmont Park eastward across unpaved ground between Cicero and Lisle which would have connected then with Dearborn Street near Lake Michigan (now Lincoln Road) about 5 miles northwest of downtownChicago; this route would have cut through what is now Arlington Heights and crossed into northern Cook County beyond Winnetka Avenue where it would have continued northeast past Mundelein before terminating at Irving Park Boulevard near Forest Park Loop
