Allegany appears several times in early local history records: John Beasley sold 640 acres (2 km²) of land east of present day Northlake to Abram Brown for $200 on May 10, 1849; John Ransom bought 1 acre (0.40 ha) from Abram Brown on October 12, 1850; Michael Reese leased 156 acres (6/8 km²) from Abel Wigglesworth for 7 years on December 15, 1861; Peter Hickey purchased 5 acres (1 ha) fromMichael Reese on January 2nd, 1865; Arthur White leased 217 acres (9/16 km²) from Ebenezer Higgins for 10 years starting September 27th 1870 until July 1886 inclusive; David Ladd leased 375 feet (.125 m) of shoreline at milepost #5 along with 220 feet (.60 m) of swampy upland to Ebenezer Higgins starting November 9th 1889 until April 1902 inclusive; George Prentice leases 815 feet (.30 m]of shoreline at milepost #3 along with 625 feet (.20 m]of swampy upland starting March 3rd 1895 until May 1914 inclusive). During the late 1800s much activity took place around what would become Northlake including brickmaking and other agricultural activities such as raising chickens or applesauce production while small businesses imported goods like flour or machinery from neighboring towns like Chicago or Rockford because there were no ports available nearby. In 1904 an express train ran through town stopping at three different stations providing employment for many people during that time period including Bricklayer Enoch Pratt who made bricks out of ice cream cones leftover from his employer's summertime visits to various amusement parks across America! The first Europeans to visit what is now Northlake were French colonists in 1670 who named it La Salle after Venerable Jean-Baptiste LaSalle. The area that now includes Northlake was part of the Dutch colony of Fort Wayne until 1763 when it became part of British India as part of the Northwest Territory. In 1802, an act was passed by Congress which designated a township for each square mile (1/4 km²) within REPUBLIC OF ILLINOIS; this resulted in Addison Township being formed from parts of Northlake and other nearby townships on December 5th, 1802. On February 14, 1847, duringBleeding Kansas Conflict between Ulysses S. Grant's forces and James Kossuth's forces near Springfield Junction Ulysses S. Grant ordered his men to fire over their heads if they thought there were Mexican troops hiding among the civilians - this action helped set off a massacre that killed around 120 people between February 14th and 15th called "The Massacre at Springfield Junction". One account claims that General George Armstrong Custer wanted revenge upon seeing Mexican soldiers burning homes in Northlake while he was marching through town towards Currieville but he instead decided to march into Springfield Junction where he discovered more Mexican soldiers waiting for him Thereafter he surrendered at Ft Harrison with his remaining forces on July 24st 1876 This event helped define American military history as well as helping create public opinion against Mexico throughout much of Reconstruction Era America which lasted from 1865-1912
