The holster industry in Northbrook, Illinois began with the development of Firearms Protection Devices in the early 1800s. Early manufacturers included Blackhawk and Colt. By 1876, the Northbrook Armory had produced its first revolver. The industry continued to grow throughout the late 19th century as firearms became more popular. In 1911, Northbrook was one of the initial communities to be served by Chicago's Municipal Gun Supply Company. This company became known for stocking a wide variety of handguns including revolvers, revolvers-by-numbers, shotguns and rifles. In 1927, National Sporting Goods Co., Ltd., a manufacturer of hunting and sporting goods, opened a store at 401 S Michigan Avenue in Northbrook. This store was one of the earliest gun stores in Chicago and it remains one of the city's most important shopping areas today. From 1927 until 1963, NGS operated two other stores in Chicago: 547 Wabash Ave & 655 Wacker Blvd (now called Oriental Trading Post). At this time gun salesmanship within Illinois reached an all-time high due to Prohibition efforts that were led by Govt Commissioner John Pendergast. During World War II many holsters were designed specifically for military use such as those developed by Ed Brown at Browning Manufacturing Company who created two holsters which would become legendary - PT6E1T (Patriots Trophy) and GI Holster No 1A1C9B (Guns 'N' Roses Model), both made from leather with brass fittings; these pistols were used extensively during World War II as service pistols by US Armed Forces personnel around world

Northbrook is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 362 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Cook County. Northbrook was founded in 1847 as a post office called Deerfield and has been named after Northbrook, England. The name "Northbrook" comes from two places: Northbrook Farmstead in DeKalb County, Illinois and Northcroft Estate in Warwickshire, England. The farmstead and estate were acquired by George Fenton Chafin in 1847 from John Warner and others involved in a land grant controversy over the village of Aurora on the Chicago River which became Aurora-On-the-Lake. Fenton had come to America with his family in 1837 and started trading flour for goods brought overland from Great Britain. He found that there was little demand for flour here so hestarted to grow crops instead which produced more money than buying goods from merchants back home. In 1840 he built a house on what is now south Prairie Avenue near where he lived until his death in 1893; it still stands today as one of the few remaining examples of an early 19th century townhome complex in Chicago. In 1847 Fenton married Sarah Lambdin who was also born into a prominent Chicago family (she was descended from Alexander Hamilton). They moved to their first home on Milwaukee Street east of State Street soon thereafter when they had four children: Cephus (1848–1923), George Washington (1850–1925), Sarah Jane (1852–1945) and Abraham Lincoln Chafin Jr., or Allen Iverson (born December 12, 1954). After briefly returning to live on State Street during World War II before moving again to their current location, they bought 4500 acres () around present day Northbrook Boulevard between 95th and 97th Streets NW - including much of what is now north suburban Oak Lawn - for $10 per acre ($ today). This allowed them unprecedented access to land surroundingChicago while still allowing them privacy since they could only build homes within their own boundaries (). From this property they began developing what would become known as “Chrysler Park” – stretching along Lake Michigan westward from northerly Elmhurst Road through Armour Square/Holloway Woods/Montrose Heights/Milwaukee Avenue northeast past Wauconda Center before terminating at Keating Avenue northwest of Forest Hills Cemetery – one of Chicagos most famous addresses because it served as Northwesterns first professional football stadium between 1925 and 1928; excellent commercial real estate conditions prevailed during this time period such as no zoning restrictions meaning developers could build whatever they wanted without fear of regulations; moreover public transportation available nearby made it easy for people living near Northwestern universities or other centers located just minutes away by train or bus . The parklands area opened up fully to housing development following World War II when auto manufacturing turned into an important factor overall among American cities due largely to postwar suburban migration . As development continued throughout the 1960s – 1970s various plans were put forth but all ultimately failed due mostly political opposition led by Mayor Richard Maturen – newly elected Harold Washington took office vowing change within City Hall however changes did not take hold until David Dinkins took office starting with City Council meetings held outside City Hall beginning February 1st 1977 ending November 15th 1987
