The town name changed to Northbrook due to this partnership between Kimball and his friend and neighbor John Fenton - both men believed that God would protect their town from future Smallpox epidemics. The area now known as northnorthwest suburban Cook County was first settled by Native Americans about 12000 years ago according to archeological evidence unearthed during construction of Northwestern University's Evanston campus on what are now Northwest Side streets and blocks of land near present-day Briggs Park Reservoir on Lake Michigan Boulevard (now Roosevelt Road). At least one such site has been found on property owned by Northwestern University today; testing will continue until an answer can be obtained for whether or not beer cans dating back to this time may date back even further still! During his tenure as governor of Illinois (1877-1879), Abraham Lincoln issued Executive Order No. 1 which prohibited slavery within any state boundaries including northcentral Illinois because such a policy would have "abolished all negroes within its limits". Northbrook was founded on a small farm by Rev. George Sheehan in 1837. The first post office was established in Northbrook in 1840. In 1851, Northbrook became an incorporated village due to pressure from nearby Chicago; it remained an unincorporated community until 1959. The town was named after Drury Lane in London, England and its original site lay just east of that street's junction with Kedzie Avenue (now Wabash Avenue). A Presbyterian church had been built there by Reverend Sheehan in 1836-37 and services were held there until1851 when the village of Northbrook took form as it did because more people felt they needed municipal services than could be provided by simply preaching from the pulpit alone.
