In 1870, Daley donated more land for industrial development within what would become North Chicago – this time including a tract of land now bounded by Dearborn Street, Ontario Street, Grand River Boulevard, and Cicero Avenue (later referred to as Northwest Side). This donation helped spur further growth within the city limits; over 60 businesses were established within two years following Daley's donation. By 1875, NorthChicago had overtaken South Side as one of Chicago's most important commercial districts. During the late 1800s and early 1900s large numbers of Italians began moving into Northwestern suburban areas such as NorthChicago due to job opportunities available there during prohibition era (1916-1921). However due largely to economic problems experienced by these families after prohibition ended their businesses closed or migrated out of town after experiencing difficulties obtaining financing or government support through various channels such as military procurement contracts etc., many Italian Americans moved back into their original neighborhoods with few new businesses being set up until recently when some have started business ventures outside their neighborhood limits again especially in recent years among older millennials who are newly arrived generation immigrants across cultural boundaries
