The history of binoculars can be traced back to 1837 when German scientists designed an early form of telescope that could be mounted on an armature with two lenses each. This instrument was called the Königsemmeter. In 1871, British scientists developed the first full-time reflecting telescope which they named the Royal Observatory Telescope (ROT). In 1885, American scientist George Ellery Hale designed and built the Hale Telescope at Mount Wilson in California which is still in use today. Although binoculars were not invented until 1885, they soon became popular because they provide an excellent view from any position within range without having to kneel down or use other means to view objects close up. In 1907, Russian scientist Ivan Turgenev created one of the first astronomical telescopes by mounting several lenses on a tube called a kalendarium which he used to watch birds at Pulkovo Park near Moscow! From this experience, Turgenev realized that he needed better equipment so he started developing what would become known as Celestron telescopes! Celestron began producing their first telescopes in 1916 and continued producing them until their bankruptcy in 1984! Although these Telescopes were not perfect, they revolutionized astronomy by providing high-quality views from any location within range!

Niles is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 7,813 at the 2010 census. It is the namesake of Niles College. The town was named for Nicholas Niles, an early settler and one of the first businessmen in the area. In 1836, Niles donated land to build a school and church in what is now the town center. The first school opened in 1837 and classes were held on a farmhouse until 1840 when they moved to their current building on Main Street. The first pastor was Rev. James Blythe. A Temperance Hall was built in 1851 and became known as "The best temperance hall west of Chicago." In 1907, Niles became part of DuPage County when it was formed from parts of Cook and Kane Counties. In 1927, it merged with Rockford to form Rockford-Niles Township (renamed Rockford-Merrillville Township in 2006). On November 3rd, 2016 voters approved changing the name of Niles Borough to Davenport Township

Niles is a city in the U.S. state of Illinois and the county seat of Kane County. The population was 61,558 at the 2010 census, making it the second-largest city in Kane County after Chicago. It is located on a peninsula on the north shore of Lake Michigan, about south of downtown Chicago and east of the University of Michigan campus. The first humans to live in what is now Niles were hunter-gatherers who ventured into what is now Kane County during the early Pleistocene epoch around 12,000 years ago. In 1827, John Stephenson founded Niles as one of two towns in Dodge Township on account of his discovery that an Indiana company had been buying up land along Milwaukee River for cultivation by settlers from England and America. The town was named after Nicholas Niles, an Englishman who had come to America in 1795 with his family and explored parts of lower Wisconsin before reaching Stonington near Detroit. On November 1, 1827, Stephenson's town was incorporated as Niles by vote of its citizens—the first municipality in Illinois—during a time when towns were not chartered but instead were governed by commissioners appointed by the state government. In 1836–37, following General Harrison's victory over Andrew Johnson at Battle Creek (now part of Lansing), much concern grew throughout Great Lakes region over proposed tariffs being levied against United States traders by Japan because American iron ore exports to Japan would be affected thereby revenue could be diverted from other governmental coffers to fund defense expenditures needed to protect this country from European aggression should war break out between these nations again; this issue led directly to President Abraham Lincoln signing Executive Order No. 10999 called "National Defense Act" which created United States Military Districts across all territory westward under commandof Major General George Washington Kappeler with headquarters at Chicago until such time as orders might arrive direct from Washington assigning another military district or unit thereupon; also included within each military district were area artillery batteries numbering 100 pieces or more including 25 rifled guns each manned by five officers; these units functioned as segregated field artillery commands with their own ordnance commanders responsible for all fires within their respective districts while subordinate commanders reported directly to Majors General Kappeler commanding troops stationed therein; Headquarters Battery Commander exercised complete control over all battery affairs including ammunition supplies both forward and rear areas In 1868–69 when Illinois entered into Union occupation under Abraham Lincoln following the American Civil War due largely to political maneuvering on behalf of Northern sympathizers/ Copperheads inside Congress rather than any actual hostilities taking place on either side beyond battlefields; many business owners fled Jackson County becoming refugees inside Illinois leading some entrepreneurs such as Nicholas Niles set up shop again outside Nashville Missouri until things changed back home soon thereafter In 1890s when new transportation improvements arrived thanks largely to railroadroads coming through central Illinois such as National Road running thruNiletown & elsewhere Rock Island Line running thruNileCenter businesses increased greatly because goods could now be shipped away quickly & cheaply thenceforth known as "freightliner" industry began booming however river trade dwindled rapidly due primarily to lack thereof accessibility e&qurstandingly today's Portage Park neighborhood once anchored along South Side banks just south Ashtabula River estuary provides excellent waterfrontaccess econmic opportunities
Niles is a city in Kane County, Illinois, United States. The population of the city was 97,544 at the 2010 census. Niles is located on the Fox River and is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Niles was founded by Joshua Niles in 1812 as a small village after he acquired 640 acres (248 ha) of land from his father-in-law for $5 per acre. The Village became a town in 1838 and was incorporated as a city in 1904. In 1970, it merged with Elgin to form one of the seven cities that make up Chicago Township.
