On November 6th, 1830, these thirteen townships merged into one under new territorial government leadership when Illinois became a U.S.-owned territory following Mexico's purchase of Texas from Spain via cession at Taos Pueblo on October 16th century In 1836 AD Isaac Nail began construction on what would become New Lenox–the only house ever built within City limits of Chicago until then –and opened it for business on December 14th with $5 per day rent payable in advance to his partners James Kapp & Solomon Wolcott who ran the tavern/shipping office/bankrolling mill complex known as Nail’s Mills until 1840 when they closed down due to competition from Miller Brewing Company’s newly opened brewery at Dearborn Street and Lockwood Avenue 100 feet away
