The first election held following incorporation resulted in mayoralty changes with incumbent Mayor Wm H Morrissey defeating challenger James Fenton by over 2 votes to 1%. At that time only men could serve on village council; women soon followed suit and voting began admitting female citizens starting in 1925. The Village had always been one bedroom communities – until 1984 when they started opening up into two-bedroom homes which has led to more growth and annexation from neighboring villages since then!
