Naperville, Illinois is a city in Kane County, Illinois, United States. The population was 51,768 at the 2010 census. It is the tenth-largest city in Illinois and the second-largest city on the Fox River Towpath. The metropolitan area has a population of over 100,000 people and covers all of Kane County and parts of Cook County. The first settler in Naperville was David Garland who arrived in 1837. By 1860 Naperville had a population of over 1,500 residents. In 1871 Naperville became an independent municipality with its own government and elected its first mayor, Wm Halsey Wrigley. By 1902 it had reached its present size with a population of 11,818 residents. When Chicago annexed Lake Michigan as part of their annexation policy during World War II, Naperville became one of the cities included within Chicago's new zoning plan for downtown Chicagoland area (later known as Midtown Chicago). During the early years post-war growth was slow due to limited transportation options and competition from other cities in that time period such as Joliet and Oak Park which were much larger at that point in their histories - both locations would grow rapidly during this time frame however later on they would eclipse Naperville by terms of land value and development potential. In 1960s there was dramatic growth due to surges in commuter traffic from Northwestern Illinois into southern Indiana along I-80 through Naperville; this led to heavy development near Kedzie Boulevard including numerous high rise buildings still standing today such as 20 Wall Street which once housed Sears & Roebuck headquarters until 1987 when it closed down after being bought by KFC; also note: Today’s 20 Wall Street building across Kedzie Boulevard from Dearborn Park Golf Course is also home to many small businesses catering to commuters like Dunkin Donuts! The following decade saw significant investment coming from naperville Mayor Dick Riley himself lead group called “Riley Motorsports Group” which purchased several large parcels of land just north of the current suburb located now east side Of Cicero Avenue facing Interstate 80; this would eventually become known as “The Loop” starting around 1978 with giant shopping center built including Sears/Kmart store anchor tenant(s) anchor tenants Lord & Taylor Loft (now Federated Department Stores), JCPenney (now Macy’s), Kohl’s and most notably Ann Taylor (Ann Taylor Outlet Store) – all located on what is now occupied by Sears Holdings Corporation main campus across 290 N Calumet Ave., across from Now Foods grocery store having been acquired by Kroger two decades ago! This massive shopping center enabled naperville to outpace Joliet for total retail acreage nationally between them reaching nearly 2 million sq ft or almost 3/4ths the size currently extant within Near West Side neighborhood boundaries! This economic boom continued well into 2000′s when new housing developments started popping up throughout DowntownChicago portions surrounding The Loop including some major architecture projects such as One Union Station situatng right next door to now defunct Sears Tower complex regional intermodal terminal station serving Amtrak Train lines running directly underneath it; this project remains ongoing today with plans for another tower project soon!! On top off these intermodal terminals additional light rail service extending northwestward deep into downtown Chicagoland via tracks paralleling I-294 was added allowing easy access not only to University Circle stop but also various other nearby attractions critical for suburban commuters!!! All told it can be said that since Mayor Dick Riley took office naperville has undergone massive transformation becoming one of IL's leading metropolises thanks largely to his aggressive marketing efforts !!

Naperville, Illinois is a small town located in the Central Time Zone. It is bordered by Aurora to the north, Mount Prospect to the east, and Plainfield to the south. The population of Naperville was estimated at 23,521 as of 2010. The first permanent settler in Naperville was Nicholas Flood in 1836. The town was named after George Washington Carver who came from Shawano County, Wisconsin in 1846. The original courthouse building still stands today and is used as a museum. It was built in 1853 and served as the court house for many years until it was replaced by a new structure in 1907. The old courthouse is also now used as a community center. In 1916, World War I veteran John J. Pershing became head of United States Army General Headquarters Europe which occupied several buildings on North Pulaski Road northeast of downtown Naperville. To commemorate his service, Pershing ordered that all businesses within two blocks of his headquarters be renamed post office boxes beginning with N/A (No Address). This order remains in effect to this day and has been cited as one of the early examples of customer service excellence which led to modern-day succeeded companies such as FedEx and UPS being founded. In 1937, Naperville became home to America's first airmail station when Pan Am Airways constructed an airstrip adjacent to Community Airport on present day Weldon Avenue just north of Center Street NW. Today's Pan American World Airways hangar still stands next door along with other artifacts from that era including an intact Boeing 707 cargo plane dating back to 1957! In 1951, Morrell Chevrolet opened its doors at 813 Wabash Avenue West between Main Street and Elmwood Drive NW becoming one of the earliest dealership stores ever located within city limits! That same year saw naperville annexing Plainfield Township due to lack of business presentation from that township leaders! In 1961, Kresge Drugstore opened its doors at 601 Estero RoadNW becoming one of the first drugstores west of the Mississippi River! That store would later become known as Kresge Tire & Auto Service before moving into its current location at 4557 S State St., just east of Chicago Ave., in 1984! In 1990s there were many changes taking place within our town with most notably through passage via referendum for enactment into law Of A School District Consolidation ordinance!! After much debate over proposed zoning changes which would have impacted nearly every facet Of Our Townspeople' Lives virtuallynone happened however subsequent amendments did pass resulting In An expansion To Our Local School District!!! Today’s City Limits are nestled Along South Pulaski Road Between Elmwood Drive And Weldon Avenue housing both Elementary & Middle Schools plus Parkland Hospital
