On March 14th 1870 City Council voted 3-2 to annex neighboringSouth Naperville which shares borders with both cities but only included within the limits set forth in ordinance #693 from February 7th 1870 until annexation occurred on March 7th 1870. After annexation all boundaries between these two municipalities were redrawn and remain so today - making it one large city! In 1886 Chicago annexed much of southern Cook County including most of what is now suburban Cook County includingNapervillesouthside neighborhood - removing about 3500 citizens from downtown Chicago for just under $1 million dollars - this was considered at that time one of largest land sales ever made in American history! What followed was years during which few reminders or traces remained behind those early settlers that once roamed these streets - until recently! Today's downtown business district has undergone many changes throughout its history due to new development such as high tech businesses popping up along State Street just south of Interstate 80 while other parts have seen renovation or redevelopment including several blocks around McCormick Place where central government offices used to be located before being moved out into Park West Plaza following bankruptcy proceedings in 2009! There are also numerous small businesses situated throughout various neighborhoods including Northwest Side (northwest corner Washington Road / Pulaski Road), Northwest Side (southwest corner Kedzie Avenue / Woodlawn Avenue), Hyde Park/University Heights (southwest corner Austin Drive / Stevenson Boulevard), University Village (northwest corner First Street / Irving Park Road), Downers Grove/Pleasant Prairie (east side Douglas Boulevard / Glenwood Drive) etc... This diversity makes for an interesting mix unlike some larger cities where all areas may feel like one big area depending on your vantage point!
