Mundelein, Illinois is a town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 26,818 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago Metropolitan Area. Mundelein was founded in 1853 by Nicholas Mundelein and his family. The name means "place where people talk." Mundelein is located in the northwestern corner of Cook County. It is bordered by Lake Michigan to the south and east, the city of Chicago to the north and west, and unincorporated areas to the northwest and northeast. According to the 2010 census, Mundelein has a total area of , all land. As of 2000, there were 21 businesses in Mundelein with an aggregate sales volume of $260 million (the largest being Met Life). These include JBS Inc., Ford Motorsports LLC., Sears Holdings Corporation (), Allstate Insurance Company (), Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., Deere & Co., ABC Radio Networks Ltd., Mastercard International Incorporated (), Lululemon Athletica Ltd., Time Warner Cable Incorporated(), ING DIRECTV America Services Company (), FedEx Ground () and Comcast Communications Company (). It also has three high schools: Mundelein High School (grades 9-12), South Side High School (grades 7-8) and West Side High School (grades 9-12). There are also two small colleges: Wright State University* (*and DuPage Community College*) as well as one post-secondary school: Mundelein Tech Prep*. According to Morley’s 2006 Comprehensive Review of Housing Institutions v1E*, “The Townships have been greatly improved over recent years; however much more still needs to be done for all residents including developers who have not yet made their presence felt” In order for this goal to be met properties that are zoned R2 or higher need special approval from village trustees before they can be developed which typically takes 2 years with a variance request process that involves community meetings as well as input from township supervisors/delegates/members/. The following 2007 report on Village Development Plan Revision No 3 outlines some issues that should continue focus on when it comes time for revising any Village Development Plans…. Many concerns raised about development within villages such as increased traffic congestion around churches etcetera remain unresolved; village trustees are working towards finding compromises between developer interests while preserving open space through use of zoning preference rules….. plans submitted back in 2004 do not take into account advances made since then nor does their impact on services offered……many members feel that property values have become inflated due largely to changes within our infrastructure – specifically transportation options available now compared 20+ years ago” * Morley's 2006 Comprehensive Review of Housing Institutions v1E

Mundelein is a small town in DuPage County, Illinois, United States. The population was 5,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The Mundelein post office was established in 1872 and closed in 1971. Mundelein was named for John Mundy, who surveyed the lands around it in 1837. In 1879, Patrick J. Byrne purchased land east of Mundelein from Abram Sherrill for $5 per acre. In 1886, he donated the land to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as a gift for its newGraduate School of Education and Teacher Education buildings on campus. The university renamed their newly founded school "Mundelein" in honor of Byrne's donation and also added his name to the building's cornerstone. (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign) Mundyleine Elementary School opened in 1945 with grades PreK-2 and became a fullday kindergarten program serving students from Grades 3 through 6 after Hurricane Dorian struck on October 14th 1951 causing extensive damage to that school which would later be replaced by Mundy High School; however PreK-2 students continue today as part of Gahanna Intermediate School which serves grades 7 through 10 north Richland Township Drury Rd.)

However, in recent decades, Mundelein has seen some revitalization thanks to its proximity to Chicago and its role as a hub for education and culture.
