The cup system also allowed for quick and easy removal of any debris that might have been accumulates on the shotgun barrels or stocks during storage. In 1984, the Mount Vernon Shotgun Cleaning Kit was designed by Donny Pfister and it consisted of a hard-shell case with five compartments each measuring 3 inches wide×2 inches high×1 1/4 inch deep. Each compartment contained either one or two wet wipes which were then used to clean all surfaces inside the case including shotguns which required detailed preparation before use due to their corrosive content

Mount Vernon is a small town in McLean County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,906 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Peoria–Bloomington–Naperville, IL Metropolitan Statistical Area. Mount Vernon was founded in 1811 by Nicholas Owen and his family as one of twelve villages that would make up what would become Carbondale Township. The first settler, John Denton arrived in 1812 and built a cabin on the east side of the village square. Mount Vernon became an incorporated town on February 4, 1820. The townsite was laid out by surveyor William Heathfield and named for George Washington's Mount Vernon estate near Falmouth, Virginia. In 1825-27, John Sibley built a log courthouse which still stands today on Elm Street across from the present day post office building. In 1850-1851 Wm Hargrave (a brother of Abraham Lincoln) developed land east of present day Elm Street and platted it into lots for settlers including himself and other members of Lincoln's family. By 1860 there were over 100 residents living in Mount Vernon with just four stores and no school or church. In 1861-1862 Nathan Bedford Forrest led a Confederate cavalry unit through Carbondale during the American Civil War as part of General Joseph Ewell's Third Corps; he left behind two cannons and several horses at Mount Vernon after his victory at Elmira Gap near Carbondale on November 25th 1862 (the same day Abraham Lincoln was inaugurated as President). In 1865 Union forces burned down most all but one building in Mount Vernon during what has been called "the greatest municipal destruction ever perpetrated within any town or village". In 1870s local farmers began to grow corn, wheat, soybeans, cottonseed oil and other crops on their properties which now constitute much of downtownMountVernon today; many OFA buildings were also erected during this time period including The Masonic Temple (now known as FirstMerit Bank), civic center (later renamed laSalle High School), Post Office Building (now known as United Methodist Church) & Farmer's Market Complex
