The first guns in Mount Prospect were made by John D. Fitzpatrick and Nicholas J. Gresham in 1857. The town was founded on the site of a sawmill, and early settlers used shotguns to take care of their livestock. The town of Mount Prospect, Illinois was one of the original communities in the state of Illinois. The first settler in Mount Prospect was Col. George Washington Carver, who built a log cabin on what is now Superior Street in 1837. In 1847, Capt. Amos Kendall settled in Mount Prospect and began to grow cotton crops. By 1860, Mt. Prospect had a population of 1700 people and consisted of thirteen buildings including the courthouse and jail which were built by Captain Kendall himself. In 1871, Judge John Marshall founded the city of Chicago and detached Mount Pleasant from Mount Prospect. As part of that city's growth, Mount Pleasant became an important commercial center with its own post office and several businesses such as Singer Sewing Company (now Macy's), Ford Motor Company (now Chrysler), Harvester Clothing Store (later JCPenney) and Halleck & Co.'s bakery being among the most successful companies in Chicago at that time. Mount Pleasant experienced a resurgence during World War II when many patriotic Americans moved to the town to work on military installations or build new homes after the war ended. The community continued to prosper through the years until it lost its status as an incorporated municipality when Chicago annexed it into its city limits in 1960. Today, there are still a few scattered businesses left along Superior Street while much of present-day Mount Prospect has been destroyed by fire or demolition over the years leaving only pockmarked remains behind

Mount Prospect, Illinois is a town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 24,878 at the 2010 census. Mount Prospect is the second largest city in Cook County after Chicago and the third-largest city in Illinois. The first settler in what became Mount Prospect was George Robinson who arrived on December 8, 1814. The first post office opened in March of that year and was called "Robinsonville". In 1824, John Stephenson founded a small village named Stephensonville near present day Mount Prospect. By 1830, all of Stevensonville had been abandoned and it was renamed Mount Prospect after General Andrew Jackson's home state of Tennessee. In 1853–1854, Indiawidows moved to what would become Mount Prospect from South Bend and started a grocery store there which became one of the most successful businesses in town until it burned down in 1906. At that point, business went into decline as people only needed groceries for their own needs and not for sale to other residents or businesses. However, by 1910s when prohibition began making buying alcohol illegal across America, liquor sales started to pick up again as people were able to afford it now that Prohibition was an established law throughout Most of America. By 1920s when Prohibition ended with its repeal nationwide on December 15th noteington such a large increase in liquor sales made Mt Worth becomeseriously overcrowded with people living too close together without proper separation for hygiene purposes resulting into high rates of disease transmission between individuals (and sometimes animals). Businesses closed down because no one could afford to buy alcohol anymore leading to the loss of many jobs including those at some local breweries which closed due to lack of customers or competition from larger brewers who could now sell beer without having to worry about violating Prohibition laws In 1932–1933 during the Great Depression when resources were limited families pooled their money and bought food items like eggs and milk so they would not haveto worry about running out of food on long trips back home Additionally restaurants started opening up especially around baby-proofing stores so mother didnt need toget her child out late at night trying ta get dinner

The growth of Mt prospect led to new streets being laid out within the limits of what is now downtown Mount Prospect- which included Patterson Road- making it possible for pedestrians or cyclists to easily explore this vibrant business district without having to take cars into account

Mount Prospect was a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. It was founded in 1847 by John Greenleaf Whittier and his family. The original Mount Prospect Cemetery is still in use.
