Mount Prospect is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 24,853 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Cook County and home to the Chicago Bulls professional basketball team. The first settler in what became Mount Prospect was John F. Smith who arrived in 1847. He and his wife Emeline built a cabin on a hill overlooking what would become Mount Prospect Township. The first school in Mount Prospect Township was opened in 1858 by Miss Lizzie Greenough and Mr. Browning. In 1865, Mrs. Fenton donated land for a public school which would eventually become Rush University Medical School (now Rush University). In 1871, the railroad passed through Mount Prospect and new settlers started moving into the township including General George Meeker who founded Meeker & Company porkpacking plants on Racine Avenue just east of State Street. By 1905, there were over 25 businesses operating along Racine Avenue alone with a population of over 100 people! The growth of Mount Prospect continued as manufacturing companies such as Armour Printing Businesses moved their operations to the township from other parts of Cook County during this time period; these businesses led to more jobs for locals and helped create an identity for Mount Prospect that still persists today: "the city within the city". "The city Within The City" can be seen throughout various forms of architecture including brick vaults, high-rise buildings and even some townhouses created specifically for residents located right next to mass transit hubs like CTA's North Side Line or Metra's Blue Line stations – allowing residents easy access to both work and shopping without having to leave their homes! Today, many people refer to MtP if they want to know how "chic" or "professional" Chicago has become – it's safe to say that this moniker has been earned! The economic prosperity enjoyed by MtP during this time allowed for remodeling and expansion of local schools starting with Riverside High School which tripled its enrollment between 1925-1929 thanks largely to America’s entry into World War II! These advancements not only improved education opportunities but also prompted construction on one of Chicago’s most elaborate high schools: Homan School which opened its doors in 1927/28 – becoming one ofMountProrogation’s earliest symbols of success both inside and outside OFC!. After years spent expanding educational opportunities statewide through state money while still providing quality education services at Homan School levels (including maintaining top nationally recognized programs such as music theory!), OFC boasted oneofChicago’s most prestigious private secondary schools when it awarded Homan School “Athletic Hall Of Fame status” back in 2006! This accolade shows just how successful our institution has been throughout its long history while also highlighting how much we have accomplished together as educators!"

The first settlers to Mount Prospect were Germans who founded the community in 1871. The town’s name was changed to Mount Prospect in 1915 after local farmers decided it should be called that for its resemblance to the Peaks of Otter mountain range near their farmstead. In 1925, Mount Prospect became an incorporated municipality. In 1930, Mount Prospect annexed the adjacent village of Arlington Heights. The annexation created a new city with a population of over 100,000 people and made Mount Prospect one of the largest cities in Illinois by area. Mount Prospect experienced some difficult times during World War II. Many residents fled to other parts of America after Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor on December 7th 1941, which destroyed many homes and businesses in the town center. However, because so many people had already left before Pearl Harbor happened, few damage or loss occurred as a result of the war. This was not true however for Arlington Heights which suffered extensive damage from bombing raids throughout 1945-1946 including more than twenty-four direct hits on buildings and trees within five blocks of its downtown core—the worst damages ever inflicted on any American city by air attack. After the war ended, Arlington Heights slowly regained most if not all its lost business and housing values but continued to struggle economically until it merged with Mount Pleasant in 1998 as part of Metropolitan Chicago Incorporation (MCA). Today mount prospect is known as one of Chicago's wealthiest neighborhoods with high-end shops and restaurants along Lake Shore Drive while also having plenty of open space for recreation such as ball fields and playgrounds available for children to play without fear that they may become victims oryairs like many other inner city areas across America during this time period
In 1815, the first white men set foot on Mount Prospect in what is now Illinois. The town was founded by Captain John Butler and his family, who named it after their home in Ireland. By 1840, Mount Prospect had a population of 1,500 people and was known as one of the most prosperous small towns in Illinois. In 1847, the community erected its own courthouse and jail. In 1860, America's Civil War began when Mount Prospect became a Union garrison. The town quickly emerged as an important military and political center during the war. After the war, Mount Prospect declined for several decades due to economic decline and dwindling population size.
