In Mount Prospect, Illinois, there have been guns in the area since the 1800s. The first firearms in the town were small pistols and revolvers used by farmers to protect their crops from robbers. Guns began to be manufactured in greater numbers and sold throughout the Midwest during the late 1800s. Mount Prospect became a center for gun manufacturing during the early 1900s as a result of its location on the main line of traffic between Chicago and St. Louis. Gunmakers here developed some of the most complex firearms ever created, including machineguns and cannons used in World War I and World War II. The town's production heyday came during Prohibition-era America, when many people turned to guns for protection against prohibition agents paramilitary groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous who had started entering Mount Prospect with heavy weaponry. In fact, one gunman killed more than 20 law enforcement officers at a local bar after storming into it with an assault rifle drawn (the only successful shooting by American police during Prohibition). Unfortunately for Mount Prospect residents, this period also saw a rise in crime rates which ultimately led to its decline as production plummeted and jobs moved away. In recent decades however, gunowners have again become active in their community thanks to increased safety concerns around mass shootings like those that took place at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland County, Florida last year; which has led to renewed interest in CCW permits among both individuals and businesses across Illinois!

The settlement began as a small farming community on the east side of Chicago in 1857 and grew rapidly into a large city by 1910. By 1930, Mount Prospect had Outlying Village status and had annexed much of Park Ridge to its north. In the 1970s, Mount Prospect became one of the first cities in Illinois to adopt an open-air shopping mall called "The Mall". The mall closed in 2002 but was preserved for use as a park with retail and office spaces built on it. Mount Prospect was laid out on land that was once part of what is now Oak Lawn Township. The first settler arrived in 1857, following the great Chicago Fire which destroyed much of the city center. Many people from around Chicago arrived to help rebuild Mount Prospect after the fire; among them were John Witherspoon (a middleman who moved money between different merchants), George Bogan (the founder and director of First National Bank), James Buchanan (the future president) and his brother Zachary Buchanan (one half owner of The Saturday Evening Post). By 1860, there were over 100 residents living in Mount Prospect proper; by 1890 however, only 25 remain today due to increasedrification withinChicago while many others left for other opportunities around Illinois or US states during that time period such as Iowa or Oklahoma. In 1892 G W Fuller purchased 640 acres (250 hectares) southwest of present day Mount Pleasant for $15 per acre ($4 million adjusted value). This purchase marked what would be known as Fuller's Hill because it served as both farmland and developmentally important landmark until it reverted back to nature following development efforts by current landowners beginning in 1938-39 led by then village president William A Butler Jr.. Not long after this purchaseFuller donated land to become Highland Park which still stands today along Lincoln Road east of I-294 near Fullers Creek Wildlife Preserve just outside Northwestern University suburban campus boundaries making it one mile from downtown Chicagos limits although all extenuating circumstances surrounding this event have been debunked as fraudulent documentation purposes only perpetrated by certain individuals who are ideologically motivated revisionist historians .
