NSM continued publishing traditional issues of Gun News-Shooter along with new features such as video releases and webinars; however print circulation decreased over the years until it ceased publication altogether in 2017 citing economic reasons alone.

Mount Prospect is a city in the Sangamon County, Illinois, United States. The population was 18,711 at the 2010 census. The Mount Prospect School District comprises all of Mount Prospect and its unincorporated areas. The city was founded in 1847 by James K. Polk and his brother George as a small settlement on a small ridge overlooking the present day town of Mount Prospect. In 1850, when the Sangamon County seat moved from Springfield to Mount Prospect, the Polk brothers became leaders in establishing what would become Mount Prospect as an important commercial center with many stores and businesses along State Street. A millrace ran through the community which helped create a strong water supply for local mills while also providing power for early homes and businesses. In 1863, after American General Ulysses S. Grant's successful victory at Gettysburg brought new life to America, businesspeople from around Illinois decided to move to Chicago to get rich off of war profits. However, with so much land still available in Illinois following the Civil War, many farmers chose instead to move into towns such as Mt Prospect and build new lives there rather than leave their farms behind. This gradual change led to increased competition for jobs withinMount prospect itself as well as more people moving into town from other parts of rural Illinois during this time period; eventually making it one of the most cosmopolitan cities in America By 1870-71 only 10%ofthe population lived within 1 mile (1 km) of any business or school; however today 80%ofthe population can be found within 2 miles (3 km) of either landmark

Nevertheless, Mount Prospects history is reflective of both its rapid growth during periods of prosperity and its struggles along the way.
The village of Mount Prospect was organized on December 5, 1847, by the legislature of Illinois. It was named for the prospects near the village. The first settler in Mount Prospect was James Fenton.
