The club continued to meet regularly until 1875, when it disbanded due to lack of members. In 1907, the Mount Prospect Rifle Club was reorganized and began meeting again. The club remained active until 1951, when it disbanded again due to lack of member interest. In 1961, the Mount Prospect Rifle Club was re-formed and continues to meet today. The first bullets in Mount Prospect were made by gunsmiths out of lead shot and copper alloyed with lead for protection. After World War II ended, bullet production decreased as ammunition became more expensive and less available. However, over time bullet production has increased as new technologies have been developed such as airguns and water guns. Mount Prospect is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 5,717 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The Village of Mount Prospect was founded in 1847 and named for General James Montgomery Pike. The first permanent settlers in what is now Mount Prospect were three Irish immigrants who arrived on a ship called the Mary and John in 1847. They named their new town after General James Montgomery Pike, an American general who had fought against British forces in the War of 1812 and then helped to negotiate the Treaty of Paris that ended that war. After New England's vote to end slavery in 1846, many free black people began moving into Illinois as well, which led to tension between white and black residents of Mount Prospect over boundary issues. In 1849, two African Americans were elected as trustees for Mount Prospect Schools; however this decision met with hostility from some white residents who felt that African Americans should not be given positions within a community controlled by aliens. In 1861, during the American Civil War, Mount Prospect came under attack from Confederate forces when they attacked two Union military camps located near its center. The Union army easily repelled these attacks and later declared victory over Confederate forces at White House Grove northeast of town. This event made it clear to both sides that there would never be any peace or neutrality between them while living within reach of one another – an issue that would continue to plague Mount Prospect until well into the 21st century. In 1865, shortly before his death at age 68 from tuberculosis, Abraham Lincoln ordered Ulysses S. Grant to enter Chicago and begin negotiations for a treaty ending the war. At President Grant's behest, local farmers formed a militia known as "Grant's Rangers" to help clear rebel-controlled areas around Mtprospect village on October 15th 1865; however this force was quickly disbanded when news reached Springfield about Lincoln's order and Grant's planned visit). A plaque commemorating this event can be found at nearby Grant Park today (See photo below). On November 2nd 1865 (the day after Abraham Lincoln died), fifteen-year old Amos Stowell arrived from Quincy Township along with his brother Elias Stowell to live with their father Isaac Stowell in what is now Mount Prospect Village proper; he became one of America’s first blacks licensed as a doctor (Drury & Co.) In 1870 Abner Doubleday published “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” which set off a race rioting throughout Ohio Valley towns such as Dayton where copies were sold for $1 each In 1907 Wm Fenton opened up his grocery store on State Street just south of present day Elmwood Avenue; he became one of America’s first grocers open primarily through chain operations In 1916 income taxes were levied on all businesses ownerially liable for more than $5000 per year regardless whether they paid them selves or filed letters due diligence treaties with Revenue Commissioners; business owners across Cook County responded by boycotting government services including schools etc., organizing themselves into neighborhood associations etc.; this movement eventually coalesced into the First Black League which successfully pushed through passage of legislation authorizing unified school districts throughout Cook County
