While there are many theories about why Millcreek Township became named after Mill Creek; one theory suggests that Drury published an advertisement for land near mill run through Millcreek Township which read "If you want your boundary running along these creeks . . ." This reference likely led to Millsboro Township being renamed after Millcreek Township when it was formed part of Jackson County in 1850; however no evidence exists to support this claim.
