Morton Grove is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 54,924 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The city is named after George Morton, an early settler. He donated land for the city and founded it on November 5, 1859. It was incorporated as a village in 1871. In 1945, Morton Grove merged with neighboring Olympia to form the current City of Morton Grove. The first gun mags were opened in Illinois in 1847 by Jacob Riis and Brothers at their Ammunition Exchange near Springfield. By 1860 there were over 120 gun mags operating throughout the United States including ones in Chicago and New York City! Gun mags continued to be popular until about 1890 when they became more associated with sporting events and target shooting competitions than with personal defense use. In 1915, Sturm Ruger produced its first "Ruger Model 10" pistol which featured a magazine that held ten rounds! This change from using single rounds to holding ten rounds allowed pistols like this one to become more widely available which contributed to their popularity through World War I before becoming less common during World War II/1939 due to magazine bans under military regulations

Morton Grove is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2000 census. Morton Grove is located on the Northwest Side of Chicago. The community was named for early settler and landowner Morton Lumber Company President George W. Morton. Morton Grove is one of the wealthiest communities in Chicago and has been dubbed "the most affluent city in Illinois". The first settlers to Morton Grove were three brothers who left Manchester, England, in 1836 and arrived in what is now Morton Grove on November 3, 1836. They named their new settlement after their father-in-law: George Washington Irving's brother-in-law General David Dixon (1785–1859), who had died eight months earlier while serving as commander of troops against Mexican forces near Mexico City. The brothers also donated land for a school and churches were built soon after they arrived. In 1847, following the American Civil War, James Janksen moved his family from Rockford to Morton Grove and started the Jankens Machine Shop there which became one of town's largest employers over time. One result of this growth was that many local businesses relocated to or were founded within walking distance of the new shopping center that grew up around it – including Dennys Kosher Deli & Fast Food Emporium (now an anchor store inside Martien's Hardwood Floors mall), Fox News Channel’s headquarters from 1987 until its move to Trump Tower in 2005, Sears Home Hardware stores from 1968 until 1984 (the last store closed down due to competition from Amazon), both Ivanhoe Mines gas stations between 1945 and 1951 (Ivanhoe still operates a gas station near Halsted Street at 66th Street) as well as nearly 100 smaller businesses along with ground zero for much of downtown Chicago during its formative years – all without losing any jobs or investment opportunities that took place elsewhere within city limits during those years! Today much of what once made up downtownChicago has either been redeveloped or replaced by highrise towers/residential areas like South Loop Northside etc., while much remained largely untouched including some truly historic buildings like Chatham House which currently houses several restaurants/bars/cafés - providing an intimate feel reminiscent of older European cities before modernity kicked in etc...

Morton Grove is located on the south side of Chicago and across from Aurora, Illinois. The village was founded in 1855 by Captain George Morton and his family as a small farming community named Morton Grove Township. In 1866, the township was divided into two parts; one became Morton Grove Village while the other remained called Arlington Heights Township. In 1927, Morton Grove Village merged with neighboring unincorporated communities of Elmhurst and Lombard to form what is now known as Morton Grove–Elmhurst Township. In 1969, following annexation by Chicago of Belmont Park to the north side of town along with neighbouring Plainfield and Humboldt Park, Morton Grove had an total population of 10,000 people living in over 215 blocks or tracts within its boundaries. At that time it was one of only a few villages in Cook County which did not have annexed additional areas since its incorporation date; all other Villages were accomplished through annexation until 1975 when they were re-created as full municipalities under their original borders with certain exceptions such as Oak Lawn which became Racine in 1998 after being split off from White Forest Township (now Winnetka).
