Morton Grove is a suburb of Chicago, Illinois, and it is home to the Morton Grove Armory. The armory was built in 1911 by local businessman Adolph S. Sternberger. It served as a armory until 1969. In that year, it was sold to the National Firearms Association (NFA) and became their flagship store in Chicago. The NFA renamed it the Morton Grove Armory Museum after its acquisition by the museum in 1984. The museum has collection of over 130 firearms from across America, many of which are on display in the museum'sgallery and auditorium. The museum also has an extensive library with more than 25,000 items including books on gun history, NRA literature, historical photos and videos from the armory days, as well as models and replicas of firearms used at various events throughout history. The Morton Grove Armory Museum is open every day except Monday from 9am-4pm; closed Tuesdays during school vacation periods; and closed Wednesday during Thanksgiving Day holiday season. Admission is free for all visitors!

Morton Grove is a town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 11,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Morton Grove is located on the South Side of Chicago and forms a portion of the city's east side boundary. It was originally called "Morton Plantation" after John Morton, one of its founders. Morton Grove was chartered in 1837 as a village by John Morton and others who had purchased land from the Lacrosse family for $4,000. The first settlers were farmers and their families who built homes around a small wooden church which served as their home until 1871 when it burned down. The new village took its name from John Morton's father-in-law, David Wagenknecht (1793-1875), whose family had founded Decatur Township in 1814. In 1840, David Wagenknecht donated land to what would become Morton Grove in return for an annual tax share that he received from his properties withinDecatur Township - something that continues to this day. The first mill in Morton Grove was built by Isaac Neely in 1841 and became known as the Northfield Mill because it operated on the north side of town near Fielding Avenue and Racine Street. In 1865, Isaac Neely's son Jacob built a second mill which became known asthe Glen Ellyn Mill because it operated out of Glen Ellyn Road near Elston Avenue (now Dempster Road). By 1870 there were six mills operating in Morton Grove with many employing up to 100 workers each. In 1865, James Bledsoe bought half interest intheGlen Ellyn Mill and started manufacturing wagons for delivery into Canada under the name Canadian Wagons Company Ltd.. When wagons stopped arriving during World War I due to American prohibitionism Bledsoe sold his interest to George Stephenson & Son Ltd., a British company based in Glasgow who produced munitions for Allied forces under license from Germany during World War II under the wartime name British Munitions Factory Ltd.. After World War II ended Bledsoe resumed production but changed ownership again several times over the next few years until he finally sold his holdings to Julius Rosenwald Sr./Frank Rosenwald Jr., trustees of Sears Roebuck & Co., Incorporated on November 30th 1957 for $225 million becoming one of America’s largest private enterprise owners ever prior thereto having also been one of Sears’ core businesses since 1926 when Sears Holding Corporation was formed from two different parts – Sears Roebuck & Co.–owned outlets along Long Island Railroad mainline westward through Manhattan into Brooklyn where it leased space at Allens Pharmacy before moving across Fifth Avenue into Rockefeller Center Plaza followed by opening stores at One Fifth Avenue Plaza (now Federal Reserve Bank Building) before returning inside Four Freedoms Plaza on Riverside Drive where he remains today with over 150 locations worldwide including 12 international branches inside Asia Pacific Park
