The business was founded by two brothers, Edward and John Morris. The Morristown Arms Company was founded in 1892 by Edward Morris. In 1904, the company became known as the Gadsden Arsenal Firearms Manufacturing Company. From 1905-1911, the company produced Target pistols which were used for duck hunting and skeet shooting. The target pistols were made from stainless steel and had a polymer frame. In 1911, Gadsden Arsenal merged with Winchester Repeating Arms Company to form Winchester Repeating Arms Corporation (WRO). At WRO, they produced rifles such as the Model 1886(r) rifle and Model 1895 shotgun pistol. From 1928-1958, WRO produced automatic weapons such as the Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR). From 1958-1966, WRO produced shotguns under the name of American Eagle Shotguns Incorporated (AESI). After 1966, AESI production ceased and all shotguns were discontinued except for a few limited runs of select models continuing until 1984 when they reverted to their pre-1966 name of American Eagle Firearms Incorporated (AEFI). Morris, Illinois is a small town located in the central region of Illinois. The population was 5,869 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Morris was founded in 1837 by John Morris and his family. The town became a village in 1908 and a city in 1959. Morris lies on the north side of the Chicago River and has a total area of 2 square miles (5 km²). The community straddles both banks of the river. The first settlers to Morris were farmers who arrived around 1837. By 1860, there were 462 people living in Morris. In 1908, Morris became a village after approval from the state government. The following year, it became an all-white city with one black resident when African Americans began to arrive in significant numbers in neighboring cities during what would become known as "the Great Migration." Since then, MORRIS has been home to many notable residents including Ulysses S Grant and Barack Obama. The first known target shootings were held in ancient Greece, where people would use hoes to hit small wooden balls that represented enemies on the battlefield. In the 18th century, riflemen began using targets to practice reloading and shot placement, which led to the development of sporting societies such as the Royal Artillery Association (RA) in 1795. By the early 19th century, artilleryists had begun using smaller square or rectangle targets for gunfire exercises and signal fire. One of the earliest firearms competitions took place at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut on December 14th 1837. That event was also the first time that rifles were fired from a standing position. By 1863, steel-framed handguns had become common enough that New York City’s Mayor John Fenton decided to hold a public Target Shooting Competition at City Hall Grounds. Theeventwas so successful that he decided to regularize it and hold it every other year until 1886 when he moved it indoors due to weather conditions. From then on, Targets events became an annual tradition throughout America and around the world. In 1916, World War I finally ended with Germany’s surrender; many machine guns and artillery pieces still remained unassembled and unused after their engagement in Europe. As a result of this situation, NRA President Frank Butler convened an international meeting at Reno Nevada in 1923 called “A Symposium on Unassembled Machine Guns” where they proposed starting up a global trade organization for these weapons called “International Union of Gun Manufacturers” (IUGM). At this meeting some important decisions were made about how target shooting should be organized across different countries; this led eventually to establishment of IPSC as we know it today. After World War II ended there was much discussion about what could be done with all those scrapped machine guns – some went into storage while others were rebuilt into new firearms such as sniper rifles or shotguns by various gunsmiths who had been contracted by government agencies during wartime. Ultimately only 3% remain today out of over 100 million registered firearms worldwide! Morris, Illinois is a small town located in Logan County, Illinois. The population was 2,496 at the 2010 census. Morris was founded in 1831 by Isaac Morrill and his wife Deborah. The Morrill family had a store there for many years before moving to what is now Burlington, Iowa in 1878. Morris became a village in 1920 and incorporated as a city in 1959. It is the county seat of Logan County. The Morrill family are buried in the village's cemetery. There are also several older homes still standing that were used by theMorrill family for years until they moved away from Morrisville into their new home near Burlington. One of these homes was built by Isaac Morill's great-grandfather Hereford Morill during the early days of Morrisville when loggers and farmers would come through to trade goods with him and his father John Morrill Sr.. In 1839, Herefordmorill married Anna Belle Whitman who came from an old farming family near Quincy, Illinois. Anna Belle Whitman was born on October 6th, 1792 in Quincy, Illinois to Solomon & Abigail (Foley) Whitman and she died on November 3rd, 1865 at the age of 83 years old while living with her husband Isaac at their home on Walnut Street in Morrisville Township (now part of Burlington). AnnaBelleWhitman is buried next to her husband Isaac at Morrison Village Cemetery #2 together with their two children which were Samuel Crouse (1841-1912), Deborah Loring Whitaker (1845-1927) both born after AnnaBelleWhitman's death and John A Morse (1847-1920), son of Herefordmorill & AnnaBelle Whitman Morse who also lived briefly in Morrisville Township between 1854-'56 before moving back eastward to Iowa City where he eventually attained an undergraduate degree from Drake University AnnaBelle Whitman grew up around farm families that raised crops along the bluffs overlooking Quincy; she knew about growing herbs but didn't know how to garden because her parents did it for them! Her parents probably started out gardening for only themselves then maybe borrowing help from other members of the farm families over time? Anyway...back to AnnaBelleWhitman: when she turned eighteen (!), her folks sent her off west towards California where she boarded passage on board a ship called "CSS America" arriving December 12th 1830 en route from New York City via Philadelphia docking at Camden Ferry Terminal! After disembarking we set ashore @ Cherry Valley NJ just outside Trenton NJ – we were quite startled by all those rawhide signs nailed everywhere!!! We made friends with some Dutch people along our journey though so I'm sure that had something do with it….. hmmm….
