From 1865-1939, Mr as Mrs MaryAnn Ivey operated two separate stores in Morris; The Mrs Ivey Gun Shop and The Mrs Ivey Rifle & Pistol Shop (now closed). In 1939, both Mrs Ivey Guns Stores were merged into one store under the name The Morris Firearm Store Company Ltd. This company continued to operate until it went out of business in 1976. Throughout its history, The Morris Firearm Store Company Ltd.(later known as The Morris Firearm Museum) has been an important part of the local community by selling firearms to residents ofMorris and neighboring townships throughout Chicagoland!

Morris is a town in McLean County, Illinois, United States. The population was 2,898 at the 2010 census. Morris was founded in 1834 by John Morris and his wife Sarah. The town became a city in 1922. Located on the banks of the Little River, Morris had a ferry service to the larger communities of Peoria and Chicago until 1903 when it discontinued operations due to lack of passengers. The first post office was established in 1835 and operated under the name "Farmington." In 1841, Morris merged with neighboring towns Farmington and White Hall to form what is now known as McLean County. The original courthouse was built in 1851 but burned down in 1902. It replaced an earlier structure which also burned down. The first brick schoolhouse was built in 1836 and later enlarged into a two-story frame building that served as the district's only school from 1837 until 1959 when it closed due to financial difficulties. A new school building was erected on what is now Second Street between 1840 and1847; this building also served as the district's only school from 1861 until 1959. When Morris became a city, its main square (now located at Third Street) housed both municipal offices (such as firefighting and police services) as well as commercial businesses including grocery stores and department stores before being supplanted by downtown after World War II when Interstate 35 bypassed Morris via its current path through central Illinois . The City Council Chambers were completed in 1922 with funds provided by Mayor William Gaffney Sr., who had become mayoralty after previous Mayor Harry Broun resigned following bribery charges against him . According to local legend, Gaffney ordered all public works projects not related to aviation or defense be cancelled because he believed they would stimulate development around airport facilities instead of aiding economic growth within town limits
