Minooka is a small town in Sangamon County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,531 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago–Naperville–Kankakee Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community was founded in 1851 by Danish immigrants and named after a large waterfall on the Sangamon River. The first settler in Minooka was Jonas Jørgensen, who arrived in 1851 from Denmark. He erected a cabin near what is now the intersection of U.S. Route 6 and State Road 3A (now I-280). Other early settlers included John Sperling, Isaac Christensen, Ole Clausen, Christopher Anderson and Trygve Rasmussen. In 1903, Minooka became an incorporated village under the name of "New Prague". In 1957 it reverted to its original name of "Minooka". As of the 2000 census, there were 1,531 people living in Minookatownships 2 through 4 inclusive; these are also known as South Side Township 2 through 4 inclusive or simply South Side Township. Most residents are descendants of Scandinavian immigrants who settled in MinOOKA during the 1800s when farming and fishing were key economic activities hereabouts (and still are today). Today’s residents include many people from other countries as well - some coming specifically for employment opportunities found hereaboutsin such fields as healthcare services (the Medical Center Of Aurora located just outside town) or manufacturing (certain types of food processing plants/factories now operating out-of-town within SouthSide Township), while others have chosen to settle permanently into this area due to its unique mix of cultural amenities – including easy access to excellent education facilities both public and private – socialenovelties like great shopping malls where one can find everything from clothing to appliances and home electronics; good jobs available all year long with no time commitment required relative thereto!

Minooka was a small town in Hancock County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is included in the Champaign-Urbana Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers were Mennonites who arrived in 1838. They built a log cabin and started a farm. A post office was established in 1839 and continued operation until 1848. The original land grant for Minooka was located on the east side of Highway 6 between present-day State Road 14 and the village of Westville. In 1851, John Wirtz purchased the land from Amos Chamberlain and started to build a sawmill on what is now State Road 12 near where he lived today. In 1865, Wirtz sold his interest in the mill to Elisha Buttersworth who also began to develop it into an agricultural center with corn cribs, chicken runs, and other acreage used for farming purposes including current day Minooka Elementary School (now part of Wright Middle School). In 1916 Jethro Cramer moved from nearby Westville to take over operations of Buttersworth's mill which had been converted into an ice cream parlor/confectionery business; this addition increased production by 5%. By 1938 there were twenty-four businesses operating out of Minooka with seventy employees; however, by 1945 only six businesses remained with ninety employees; all but two were closed within eighteen months due to competition from larger towns such as Urbana orChampaign. However, during World War II many residents enlisted in the military and some constructed homes inside of town limits which helped preserve some aspects of rural life even afterminOOKA's decline began Despite its struggles during war time both physically and commercially Minooka experienced significant growth following VE Day when federal troops walked through town streets telling residents that their properties had reverted back to their former owners without any compensation or notification whatsoever! This sudden influx of people changes everything as everyone starts looking for things they used to do themselves like going fishing or hunting instead of depending on outside companies For example Government property has always been leased back so how do you get government money? You lease it back again! And you can't just say sorry we're not giving it back so you stop leasing it back! So here we are now forty years later still trying hard not too let go" according to one resident while shaking hands with recent graduates from local universities" . Today Minooka has seen several rebirths especially thanks to its successful relationship with Wright Middle School where students have opportunities for extracurricular activities such as soccer, dance/drama clubs etc... As mentioned earlier most businesses have either closed or merged since 2007 when state funding stopped flowing so much into Hancock County most residents are forced resorting To special events such as block party nights which help subsidize living costs
