Mchenry is a small town in McHenry County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,595 at the 2010 census. It is part of the larger Chicago metropolitan area. The first settlers in what would become Mchenry were two families who relocated from Peoria, Illinois in 1849: the Fergusons and the Smiths. By 1860, there were six families living on a farm that still stands today near present-day McHenry. In 1871, there were nine families living on a farm that now sits within walking distance of town limits. In 1875–76, one of the early farmers in town had an idea to build a flour mill to increase production for local merchants and their customers outside of town. The mill was built on the current site of Town Hall and opened in 1877; it became one of the most important businesses in town and remains active today as Town Hall Mill Incorporated (TIMI). In 1886–87, another farmer with an interest in building a flour mill developed land east of present-day Main Street for use as futuretown center; this project was completed but never used because it did not meet engineering standards set by Timothy Beadle & Company (TB&O) which owned the mill sites at nearby Wilsonville and Blue Island Township. It wasn't until 1895 when civic leaders decided to name their new community after General George Washington "Old Parson" McNeely who had been killed earlier that year during fighting around Cairo Junction Railroad Station while serving as colonel with Sherman's army during General Grant's march through central Illinois during his March against Springfield Campaign - thus giving rise to what would become known as "McHenrysville." The naming rights to TIMI were sold to Wabash Cannon Workshops Incorporated (WCWI) which continued marketing and operating it until 1984 when it merged into KimberlyClark Companies Incorporated (KCLC). As WCWI approached its centennial anniversary in 2003 they decided to donate all assets including equipment inside TIME MILLS Tower back then called KCLC Development Center – now known as Time Warner Center – back then called Bradley Park Event Center – now known as Horseshoe Casino Resort – back then called United States Courthouse Annexe – now known as Walmart Supercenter just south across I-94 from downtown Chicago off State Street between Niles Road and Racine Avenue - thus ending WCWI’s involvement with TIMI once again leaving behind only McKenrysville Museum which continues operation today providing visitor experiences about locals history along with exhibits about local manufacturing processes dating back over 100 years! Some interesting facts about Timi’s past include: The first store open here was THE COFFEE SHOP at 4th & Michigan Streets closed 1957 followed by THE MARKETPLACE next door at 5th & Michigan Streets before they both closed 1959…..the ONLY LODGE IN TOWN WAS A RARE MINT MILITARY BUILDING OPENED BY OUR GOVERNOR STEPHEN TRUMAN HERE ON OCTOBER 17TH OF THAT YEAR….the last BUS STOP IN TOWN WAS ON 3RD AVENUE NEAR THE GAS STATION……..and finally our ACRES SOLD FOR $1/acre TO MICROSOFT HEREIN BEFORE THEY CAME BACK TO TAKE IT BACK IN 1990…..one can only assume that ifTimi still exists today undisturbed its because someone really wanted them here!

In the 1920s, Mchenry experienced significant growth due to the agricultural boom in Illinois. Many factories were established in the town during this time, and many people relocated to Mchenry from other parts of Illinois. In 1960, Mchenry voters passed a resolution requesting that the name be changed from "Mchenry" to "Muncie". This change came about as a result of Muncie's growing importance as an industrial center for northwestern Indiana. Today, MchenRY is an important community with strong cultural ties to its nearby city of Muncie. It has a Library System which includes three branches including one inside the Community Building on Main Street which is open Monday through Thursday 9am-4pm; Friday 9am-1pm; and Saturday 10am-1pm; while its own civic building houses all sorts of municipal services such as zoning meeting place/venue, court house/judicial branch office/annexe (which became available after fire damage in 1978), jail (opened 1970), senior citizens home (opened 1969), library (opened 1987) and more!

The first European Americans to live in Mchenry were the Quakers. They arrived in 1795, and soon set up a meeting house. The town was named after John McHenry, who donated land for the town.
