On October 3rd, 1907, the City of Chicago annexed portions of Maywood including all of present-day Park Ridge east of North Avenue and parts of west side along North Avenue between Racine Road and Fullerton Boulevard to form a new city called "Maywood". At this time downtown mayberry consisted only of park-like areas near First National Bank building and along Racine Road outside the limits thenof Park Ridge which were included withinmayberry limits since they formed partof fullerton beltway

In 1851, the Maywoods donated land to the town for a public square. The first courthouse was built in 1853, and in 1865, the town plat was filed. In 1893, the Maywoods donated land for a library and park. The town hall was built in 1915, and in 1948 the town became part of Champaign County.
