Today, the company is owned by three generations of Mattoons - including George's grandson John M. Mattoon Jr., who succeeded his father as CEO in 2006 - and continues to be operated under a democratic management system with a board of directors that approves major decisions regarding operations. Today, Mattoon Manufacturing Company produces a wide variety of horse equipment including saddles, horseshoes (including those for racing), bridles/collars/leashes/bridges/equipment for carriage horses (including wagons), carts and trailers; agricultural machinery such as tractors; power tools; snow blowers; generators; water pumps; carpenters' supplies; medical supplies such as bandages and stitches; home goods such as furniture and appliances

The first gun magazines were created in 1859 by Nicholas-Jacques Conte and Alfred Vail. They were called "Le Régime du Jeu." The first magazine to be produced with percussion ignition was the "Feuille d'Etat" (Perfume Fountain) in 1871. It was created by Félicité Dupont de Nemours. The spread of firearm technology led to the development of revolver magazines in 1873, which then led to the creation of shotgun magazines in 1892. Shotguns became popular after they replaced pistols as the primary firearms for hunting and self-defense.
Mattoon is a small town in the Will County, Illinois, United States. The population was 2,851 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Mattoon has been home to a Presbyterian church since 1841 and a Methodist church since 1875. The first white residents of Mattoon were Dutch immigrants who settled in 1827. They founded a log cabin community called "Wichita" on Wabash River near what is now Mattoon. In 1830, the first post office was established in Mattoon with Joris van der Kuijlen as its first clerk. The community grew rapidly and by 1835 had an population of 350 people. In 1862, settlers from Iowa created the Village of Waterloo which merged with Mattoon in 1865 to form the current village. In 1886, two German farmers named Auguste and Wilhelm Spindler purchased land west of present-day Mattoon for $1 per acre (approximately $ ). They started a small farm named Spindler's Prairie that soon produced hay, cornmeal, apples and other crops. By 1890, they had expanded their operation to include dairy farming and began to name their products after nearby towns: Hinsdale (1901), Decatur (1902), Wilmette (1903), North Aurora (1904) and Mattoon (1905). The Spindlers also donated land to build what is now Stonington Park Cemetery on their farm northwest of present-day Mattoon Road in 1909. The Panic of 1907 destroyed much farmland in Illinois during that year's economic recession; however, some farms within five miles of where today's Mattonon live continued to produce crops until 1915 when World War I ended without any significant damage done to those homes or fields by combat troops or air raids. After the war ended there was another depression which caused many businesses closed throughout most of Illinois; however some businesses reopened including men’s clothing store J S Van Doren & Sons which became known as “The Store at Five Points” because it located at five points on Wabash Avenue between First Street and Second Street just north of present day Uptown/Mattoonside Shopping Center before moving across State Street into its current location east side parking lot next door on Byron Boulevard inside former Kmart building late 1970s style mall
Mattoon was founded on October 12, 1837, by John Mattoon and his family. The town became a local center for agriculture and manufacturing, and it remains an important cultural and economic center today. Mattoon is home to the Illinois State University, as well as a large number of small businesses and factories.
