Airguns have been around for many years and Mattoon is home to one of the oldest airgun clubs in the United States. The club was founded in 1959, making it one of the oldest in Illinois. Airguns have become popular in recent decades due to their ease of use and safety features. Mattoon's history with airguns starts with a group of local boys who wanted to shoot small game. They built their own rifles from old shotguns and used them to hunt rabbits, squirrels, and other small animals. Soon, other people began joining the group and they started shooting at local gun shows and tournaments. The club slowly grew over time and by 1966, they had started having regular meetings on Saturday mornings at the library. By 1978, they had moved into their current building on Seventh Street! In 1990, they made the move to digital equipment which allowed them to carry out more competitions on internet venues like YouTube! The club has continued growing ever since and now boasts a membership of over 150 members!

Mattoon is a small town in Southern Illinois, United States. The population was 4,811 at the 2010 census. Mattoon is part of the Carbondale–Kellogg–Hancock, IL Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community was founded in 1868 by John A. Matteson and his family. It became a city in 1907, then a village in 1923. The current name was given to the community by Dr. George Washington Matteson after he purchased the land from local farmers who had tilled it for years without yielding any crops to them. Today, Mattoon consists of a small downtown core with several buildings dating back to the early 1800s as well as newer housing developments scattered throughout its periphery including three shopping malls - one of which is known for its high-end retail stores - as well as two parks - one football field sized and one that seats over 100 people - and an elementary school which serves grades K-6th along with two junior highs (grades 7-12) adjacent to it on Wabash Avenue

This caused a revolution in firearm technology as it allowed firearms to be fired quickly and efficiently from long distances without having to reload. In 1865, Captain John Fenton invented the self-loading rifle which used percussion caps to fire rounds automatically from the barrel with no need for a manual trigger or firing pin. By 1870, all firearms had been mechanized including cannons, rifles, pistols and shotguns. However, during World War I ammunition shortages caused many countries to switch to artillerynery instead of infantry firepower and this led eventually to WWI where artillery killed more people than rifles and pistols combined
On December 6, 1892, the first airgun was fired in America. A Mr. Kappler used a muzzleloader to fire a ball of metal at a target in his backyard.

They came looking for a new land to missionaryize and found an area that was already populated by Native Americans. In 1819, the Illinois Central Railroad was built through this region and made Mattoon one of the most important towns in the Midwest. Today, Mattoon is a small town with a population of around 350 residents. It is known for its livestock industry and its role as a center for education and culture in the Midwest.
