It was later moved to its current location and is currently used as a shooting range. The second target building was erected in 1902 by J.C. Higgins and still stands today on the west side of town near the High School. In 1907, a third target building was erected on South Main Street in Matteson and has been used ever since as an outdoor shooting range. Today, there are several gun ranges located inMatteson including the Stephens Rifle Range, which is home to the world’s largest rifle firing at 100 yards; the Easton Pistol & Rifle Range which offers Trap, Skeet, Shotgun or Airgun Shootings; and Gunnery Hall Shooting Complex which offers Archery and Powerlifting Events among others.

Matteson, Illinois is a city in Cook County, Illinois. With a population of over 150,000 people and an economy that supports approximately $1 billion annually, the city is one of the most populous in the Chicago metropolitan area. The Matteson community began to form in 1892 when two brothers from Ohio named George and John Matteson purchased land in what is now Matteson Township. In 1898, they built their first home and started trading goods with other farmers around them. By 1902, they had erected a lumber company which functioned as the nucleus of what would become Matteson. In 1912, the Wabash Railroad was completed through Matteson making it accessible for businesses and residents to trade with outside counties. This opened up new opportunities for commerce and development; such as factories that produced goods for export or retail stores that served local neighborhoods. In addition to this growth potential, Matteson also benefited from its location; just south of downtown Chicago on the edge of Chicagoland’s manufacturing industry made it an ideal place to live and work. The late 1800s were a time when many cities throughout America were experiencing rapid population growth due to advancements in transportation and communication technology coupled with increasing agricultural production (the so-called “Gilded Age”). One such example was Matteson which experienced dramatic growth due to its vicinity to downtown Chicago – not only did this mean more jobs were available but also more homes were available for purchase. This wealth created social tensions between those who resided within the city limits versus those who lived outside of them – some felt annexed byChicago while others saw their own economic opportunity lost because of its proximity to larger metropolitan areas like New York City or Los Angeles. Despite these challenges, through hard work and dedication by both individuals and groups alikeMatteson managed to maintain its institutions despite facing various odds during this period: including strikes (1912-1913), World War I (1914-18), Prohibition (1920), post-war boom (1930–39), Depression (1945) & Mayor Harold Washington’s efforts during his first term (1959-1963). The Mattesons were an important family in early Matteson history and their home still stands today as a museum dedicated to their legacy. The city was founded in 1892 by John Aiken Matteson as a result of his efforts to build railroads through central Illinois. It quickly grew into one of the most significant communities in Cook County due to its location near major highways and its access to education and trade opportunities. Today, Matteson is known for its arts scene - including several music festivals each year - as well as its traditional architecture which has been featured on numerous real estate developments throughout the years. In recent decades, Matteson has seen some development along its waterfront which has created new jobs for residents and businesses alike.
