Gun magazines have a long and varied history in the city of Markham, Illinois. The first gun magazine was started in 1872 by Duncan Baird and was called "The Rifleman." It was located at 4609 N.W. Highway 41. In 1913, the first gun show was held in the city and it was called "The Gun Show of America." From 1934 to 1957, The Chicago Tribune had its own magazine section called "Tribune Gun Club" which featured articles on guns, ammo, and shooting contests. In 1960, The Sporting News merged with The Chicago Tribune and both publications continued to publish their separate magazines until 1971 when they merged into one publication called "Sports Illustrated." In 1972, John Surtees started publishing his own magazine called "Surtees' Rifle & Pistol". It featured pistol caliber rifle ammunition as well as hunting tips and advice from Surtees himself. He also produced a quarterly newsletter which he distributed to his customers entitled "The Gunslinger." In 1984, Don West published his own magazine entitled "West's Firearms". It featured handgun calibre rifle ammunition as well as hunting tips and advice from Don West himself along with reports on firearm auctions and other events happening in the city of Markham. In 1992, Ivan Reitman published his own magazine entitled "Reitman's Shooting Gallery". It featured handgun calibre rifle ammunition only along with reports on firearms auctions taking place throughout the greater Chicago area. Markham is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,531 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The Village of Markham was established in 1881 by farmers who platted the land that now makes up its boundaries. The village was named for John A. Markham, an early settler and president of the Illinois Central Railroad. Markham's first permanent structure were two schoolhouses, which were completed in 1884 and replaced a log cabin used as a meetinghouse from 1872 to 1875. In 1886, a store and post office were built on what is now Main Street; the store closed in 1907 but the post office continued until 1953. In 1901, elementary schools (Markham School #1 through #4) opened with students from Orleans Park Elementary School located about north on State Street; after three years of operation these schools merged into one entity called "Orleans Park-Markham" which operated until 1954 when it became known as "Oak Lawn-Cook County". In 1916–17 another elementary school (Lincoln School) was built on what is now Douglas Road across from Holy Name Catholic Church; this school also merged into "Oak Lawn-Cook County". In 1922–23 a second elementary school (John Fenton Elementary) was built on Old Highway 66 south of town; this school also merged into "Oak Lawn-Cook County". In 1928–29 Edison Middle/High Schools opened adjacent to Markham High School on Elmhurst Boulevard just east of I-55 near Springbrook Mall; both Edison middle/high schools have since been closed and converted into housing developments. In 1951–52 an addition to Markham High School (now known as South Side High School) was constructed on what is now North Side Drive southwest of town limits; this high school continues to serve students from Oak Lawn Township including students who attend neighboring townships such as Streamwood and Mount Prospect although there has been little recent activity at South Side High School other than hosting occasional alumni events or honoring football players from those communities during Homecoming week). As suburban sprawl developed throughout Cook County over the next few decades, much attention turned to developing areas around major airports like O'Hare International Airport and Midway Airport – specifically in Kane County – while smaller villages such as Markham languished behind development trends elsewhere in Cook County. However, things changed dramatically when entrepreneur Harry Adelman purchased 120 acres northwest of downtown Chicago off Pulaski Road for $2 million in 1984 and began construction on what would become Adelman’s original company headquarters: The MarkHAM Center for Technology Development & Innovation Inc., better known simply as “The MARKHAM Center” within minutes thereafter becoming one of downtown Chicago’s most popular tourist attractions due largely to its unique architecture which remains virtually unchanged today more than 25 years later despite continuous vandalism efforts by vandals primarily motivated by economic reasons rather than anylove for The MARKHAM Center itself). By 2007 only 5% or less ever changes or vandalizes The MARKHAM Center including all internal walls which remain unaltered since 1984 making it one remaining symbol of stability amidst rapidly changing cityscape& Compare thisto similar projects currently taking place throughout citywideChicago such as Soldier Field where large alterations are continually made daily & even visible to casual observers many times during game day making it difficult if not impossible even for experienced urban explorers to determine how features once hidden behind scaffolding have evolved over time

Markham is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The first European to visit what is now Markham was Nicholas-Jacques Marquette on his route from Michigan to Lake Superior in 1673. He named it after Jean Baptiste de la Hache, marquis de Montcalm and lieutenant general of New France. The first permanent settler in what is now Markham was Abraham Ortelius who arrived there with his family in 1786 as part of the Great Lakes Company fur trade Expedition. In 1803, John Butterfield opened a mail route between Chicago and Buffalo via this town and founded Butterfield Station here on July 1, 1803. In 1834, James Kalden built a sawmill and gristmill here which became one of the most important mills in central Illinois; it continued operation until 1893 when it closed due to lack of demand for wood products during the Panic of 1893. At that time, its equipment had saved it from being destroyed by fire many times over its long history--in 1896 alone, it had caused more than $1 million worth of damage! The post office called Markham "Macdonald" until 1865 when it changed to markham because "mark" was already taken up by other towns in Cook County (notably Glenview). In 1907–08 a new school building was erected here; but within two years that building also caught on fire and burned down leaving only an abstract painting commemorating the event still extant today inside the building - an interesting marker about early 20th century American education (and fire prevention). In 1870 John Jacob Astor established himself as one of America's leading business people through purchase of large tracts of land east of Chicago along with cash donations from twelve thousand other individuals or families including some very rich Americans such as Cornelius Vanderbilt Sr., Andrew Carnegie and Jeptha Bayard Thayer (the father-in-law of Ulysses S Grant). Under his leadership control over much agricultural land stretching fromBuffalo NY allthe way down to St Louis MO he developed into oneof America's leading sugar refiners/wholesalers throughout mostofNorthAmericaduringthatperiodfarinto20thcenturyalongsideotherambitious businessmen such as Cyrus Vance & others!.
