Tasers have been around for over a hundred years, and in that time they have undergone many changes. In the early days, they were mostly used as physical punishment devices. As tasers became more common and technological advancements improved their design, they began to be used in law enforcement and medicine. There is currently no regulatory body governing their use in the United States, which has led to them being classified as a “nonlethal” weapon by the US Department of Justice (DOJ). As such, they are not subject to federal law and can be purchased without a license from state governments. In 2007, the DOJ released regulations regarding taser use within prisons and jails. These regulations prohibit both lethal and nonlethal discharge of tasers inside correctional facilities. The first taser device was designed by Michael Lohman and developed at Brown University. It was called the “Lethal Lion” and it consisted of four darts that were filled with electrical energy. The darts could be fired by pressing one button on top of the device. This caused an arc of electricity to travel through each dart and stun or kill target(s). The Lethal Lion was testfired for the first time in 1978 at Fort Monmouth barracks in New Jersey. It was found that it worked very well against human targets but had problems targeting animals due to their large size. In 1980, another developer named Dan Christensen began working on what would become known as the Taser gun series based on his Lethal Lion design. The Taser gun series featured five devices: two guns that were mounted on cyclists, two rifles with launchers that could fire projectiles up to 100 feet into air, a ground-based launcher for shotguns, and a counterterrorism variant which could shoot fireworks outfitted with sensors that would track targets across distances up to 50 feet

Machesney Park is a small town in McHenry County, Illinois, United States. The population was 997 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Machesney Park is named after General John Machesney who fought in the American Revolution and was naturalized as a U.S. citizen in 1795. The first settler in what is now Machesney Park was Abram De Witt, who arrived around 1802. He built a cabin on the site which still stands today and raised corn and potatoes for his own use and for sale to others outside of his immediate community. In 1807, John Dickson founded Dickson's Store on the east side of town which became one of the most important local businesses during that time period. In 1828, George Haines purchased two lots on Center Street from Abram De Witt for $225 dollars which made him one of the largest landowners in Machesney Park at that time. Haines married Isabella Stickland (or Stevenson) around this time and they settled down to raise their family there permanently. It wasn't until after he died that Isabella allowed her husband's land to be sold off to make way for what would become Machesney Park High School; however, his original house still stands today as a testament to this occasion! It wasn't until 1893 when John Machin bought tracts of land along Pulaski Road northeast of town from Nathan Bedford Forrest – making Machin one of the earliest settlers in what would become Machesney Park!Machin donated money towards building a school on his property and it opened its doors to students on December 12th, 1896! Overcoming various challenges throughout its early years (including numerous tornado outbreaks), Machedney Park High School has since grown into an international center for education - educating more than 2,500 students from over 100 countries! On July 4th, 2006, Machin's granddaughter Molly machin announced plans to dedicate part of her estate - about 5 acres - specifically for developing a park located near her grandfather's home back then called "Old Machin Place". This park will feature interpretive exhibits about her grandfather's life and work including an outdoor theatre/golf course overlooking Lake Michigan; access to trails leading away from Old Machin Place; annual picnic/festival events; playground & water play areas; replica historical farm buildings & outbuildings; And much more! The park will also serve asMolly machin’s personal memorial space where she can spend time reflectionating on her grandfather’s life experiences while enjoying all that nature has to offer! Heading west from Philadelphia on his way to visit his sister Martha (née Potts) and her husband Thomas Jefferson, Washington stopped at Machesney Park for dinner on December 12th. Later that day he walked around the park before going home. Macheney Park was established as an agricultural community by members of the Potts family in 1851. The community grew rapidly due to the production of corn, beans, peas, potatoes, and other vegetables here. In 1865 it became a village when it merged with nearby Westchester Township. In 1928 Machesney Park incorporated as a city under the name of Chicago Heights-Macheney Park City Corporation Ltd.. Machesney Park was founded in 1868 by John M. Machin and is one of the most significant cities in the Midwest. The city has been served by a number of newspapers, including the Chicago Tribune, since its founding. Machin was an early promoter of electric streetlights and helped to create the first municipal power plant in Illinois. Machin also served as mayor from 1886 to 1892 and again from 1904 to 1912. In 1916, he was named president of United States Steel Corporation.
