The Lyons Rifle and Pistol Club was founded in 1887. The club has always been focused on the shooting of firearms and participate in many local, state, and international competitions. In 1898, the Lyons rifle range was first opened to the public. At that time, it was a small facility with only six lanes. Today, the Lyons Rifle Range is one of the largestgun ranges in Illinois with over 120 acres of NRA certified rifle and pistol range areas. The club also operates a hunting preserve which includes over 10 miles of excellent deer hunting trails.
