Loves Park, Illinois is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 21,844 at the 2010 census. It is the second most populous municipality in Cook County after Chicago. Loves Park was founded on November 12th 1873 by John Addison Ladd and his wife Chloe Addison. The first post office in Loves Park opened on December 5th 1873. In 1907 the town name was changed to Holsterwood to honor Judge Amos J. Holster who had donated land for a park in 1909. The firstHolsters store opened in Holsterwood on October 11th 1912 and it still remains open today as one of the largest independent gun retailers in the Midwest with over 250 stores across North America and Europe!

Loves Park is a small community in Cook County, Illinois, United States. It was settled by white people in the 1830s and named for Reverend John Loves, an Irish priest who arrived in Chicago in 1833. The first post office was established here on July 1, 1836. In 1840, the population of Loves Park was 2 hundred; by 1860 it had grown to more than three hundred. By 1870, the population had increased to four thousand. The town has a large number of cultural attractions: the Prairie View A&M University campus lies within its boundaries; there are several parks with gardens and ponds; and two hospitals—one operated by Northwestern Memorial Hospital and one by Rush Medical Center—lie within walking or biking distance of each other. There are also a few stores and restaurants. Loves Park is known for its annual Fourth of July parade which starts at 7:00 am from Main Street east to Addison Road northwest (the route follows what was once the town's main street). The parade features floats made out of materials such as fabric, paper cups, plastic water bottles, styrofoam balls etc., along with music from various bands playing all day long on different stages around town (most notably at Wrigley Field).

The name "Loves Park" originated from when John's sister-in-law named him after she fell in love with him while they were spending time together at her home in Ontario, Canada. A post office was established at Loves Park in 1876 and became open to residents of all denominations in 1888. In 1902, the Fenton family moved to Cicero and John passed away there four years later. In 1906, James Ewing purchased land adjacent to what is now Loves Park from Cyrus McCormick & Co., making it an incorporated village under one roof for the first time anywhere in Cook County.
