Loves Park is a small town in Cook County, Illinois. The population was 6,802 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Loves Park was founded in 1881 by John H. Loves and his wife Anna Prentice Loves as a settlement for farmers who had to leave their homes in far-off rural areas because of the Panic of 1873. The name comes from Anna's parents, Lucy and Edward Loves, who named their farm "Lovers." In 1902, Anna's brother Amos Prentice bought the land around present-day Loves Park from John H. Loves and it became part of the Amos Prentice Farms estate. In 1923, Edwin Ayer bought the estate and renamed it "Loves Park." The first post office in Loves Park was established on November 15, 1881; it closed on May 5, 1882 due to low mail volume. The first school in Loves Park was established on October 25th, 1886 by Mrs. Jnoah Sikes with one student; it closed on December 12th due to high class debt incurred from buying new textbooks for her students' classes at night during economic hard times that would continue until after World War II (the Great Depression). On October 16th, 1907 Drury Wintrobe donated land east of present day Broadway Boulevard for a park that would eventually become known as "Lives Park". On January 1st 1912 David Nevin donated 7 acres west of present day Cottage Grove Avenue also known as "Lives Park". After much public fundraising through local organizations such as the Parks Department and Lions Club president William Fenton (founder of North Side Social Club which later became Lincoln Hall), funds were raised to create what is today called "Love's Park" after Love himself donated $10 000 towards its construction; this gift made possible the installation of an ornamental iron fence along portions of current Broadway Boulevard between East Armour Road and Hoyt Avenue which date back to 1916 while also funding several other park amenities including a playground/water fountain and tennis courts which still stand today! In 1957 Rufus Norris donated 3 acres near current day Northwest Expressway for development into a shopping center known then as Norwood Shopping Center but this never happened due to opposition from some residents who felt that any development within walking distance should be given preference over a small community center within town limits

Loves Park is a small town in Cook County, Illinois. The town was founded by Lula and Orville Kapp in 1912. It was named for the love between Lula and Orville Kapp. The couple had two children, Rufus and Mildred. In 1951, the town incorporated as a village. Loves Park is now a part of the city of Chicago. Loves Park began as a farmers market hamlet on the banks of the Chicago River. The first store in the hamlet was built by Orville Kapp Sr., who ran it with his wife Lula. By 1914, there were ten stores in the hamlet; all but one were operated by family members or friends of either Kapp or their wives. Orville Jr.'s father, John Daley, also started an agricultural store in Love's Park after moving to Cook County from Michigan in 1906 when he became Mayor of Chicago’s West Side district (now Etna). Daley would become chairman of City Hall and later mayor again from 1991 to 1995 before retiring at age 85 on December 1, 2003 . The post office opened atLove's Park on July 14, 1913 under name "Dolores". On October 15th 1915 the postmaster changed it to "Lulas" after Mrs. Kapp donated her domain to serve as a post office within Love's Park- along with other land donated by various citizens/landlords including Driscoll & Herron grocery store owners Harry Dolores (1892-1964), John Herron (1893-1981) and Julius Herron (1901-1986). On November 30th 1916 mail service started through Joliet Railway lines station at present day mock mill site east side of river just south of Streamline road bridge which connected villages then called “Dolores” & “Mildred” then known as Northfield” this line was discontinued 2 years later because new Joliet Subway extension reached Love’s park so village name changed back to “Loves Park” effective Jan 1st 1918

The population peaked at around 4,000 in 1944, but declined over the following years due to various factors including wartime rationing and an increase in suburban development. In 1966, the City of Chicago annexed neighboring Evanston Township to form a new citywide district, which included Loves Park. As a result of this annexation, Loves Park became one of several towns within Chicago that were not merged into the larger city when it was formed in 1996.
