In 1933 Americans regained their right to pick up mail at their homes while still inside France; however they could no longer use their original street numbers which reverted back to what they had before American occupation ended (May 6th). In 1957–1958 general Motors Corporation built a plant near downtown Romeoville which produced GMC Trucks and other heavy equipment for local farmers throughout southern Illinois; most output came from 1960 onward when production ceased at Romeoville but some parts continued being manufactured at nearby Spirit Lake Assembly Plant until 1998 when that plant closed also leaving about 180 jobs behind in these two plants combined which together employ around 1800 people today including 1400 workers at GMC's new plant opened in Midtown Romeoville next door since then!
