Gun Parts History in Lombard, Illinois began with the first gunshot heard in the town on November 1, 1838. That was when John P. Blanchard shot and killed Michael Moynihan. The murder of Moynihan led to a gunfight that broke out between the two factions of the Irish-American community in Lombard. In 1851, John A. Sohier opened his store at Seventh and North Streets in Lombard, which became one of the most popular gun shops in the area. In 1902, Sohier's son Harry bought the business from his father and later changed its name to Sohier & Hannum Sears Sporting Goods Company Incorporated (SHOP no longer extant). SHOP no longer extant is also responsible for manufacturing many of today's firearms including revolvers, shotguns and pistols. The early years at SHOP were not without controversy as various proprietors competed for customers with unique selling points or prices that sometimes differed significantly from those offered by other stores operating within walking distance of their businesses. However, over time these rivalries have dissipated into what can be considered a family tradition at this well-known sporting goods retailer located on State Street near High School since 1903 until it closed its doors for good on September 30th 2006 due to financial difficulties caused by changing consumer tastes and preferences toward online/electronic shopping experiences combined with increased competition from other retail outlets within a radius of about 15 miles radius including Wal-Mart Supercenter just across State Street in Lombard – all three establishments being operated as part of an integrated multi-store enterprise known as The Three Musketeers chain which included locations throughout Cook County Plaza Shopping Center north side of Chicago Avenue just west of First Street)

At that time, much of Kane County lay within Cook County's borders; however, since Kane County became a separate county in 1847 all except about 2 square miles (5 km2) inside Lombard were included in McHenry County. In 1871, when western McHenry County split off from eastern McHenry Counties due to population growth rates differentiating between them – largely due to railroad construction – Lombard became its own municipality with its own government under an executive mayor/council form of government unique among Illinois municipalities at that time. In 1915–16 La Salle College established a small school campus adjacent to K-12 industrial park near McCormick Place which remains one of La Salle's main campuses today home adjuncts such as DePaul University School Of Business Administration & Economics and Roosevelt University’s School Of Continuing Studies & Technology Lombards prospered through World War I while other parts declined owing primarily to depressed economic conditions following hostilities; however during World War II their economy shifted dramatically when local manufacturers produced items for American military forces including airplane parts and tanks Allied Forces used throughout Europe during World War II . The postwar years have been marked by diversification with businesses moving into information technologies (e-commerce), health care (hospitality), real estate development (residential towers), food service (restaurants) and transportation services (a transportation authority). In 2016, Lombard annexed part or all of Pope John Paul II Regional Airport making it the third largest airport in Illinois by land area behind Chicago's O'Hare International Airport and Peoria's Centralia Municipal Airport

Lombard is a town in McHenry County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,824 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The townsite was laid out in 1847 by George Lombard and his son Lorenzo Lombard. George Lombard's father had been born in Italy and immigrated to America in 1787. George Lombard became a successful merchant and political figure in early Chicago. He served as mayor from 1856 to 1860 and as state representative from 1859 to 1861. In 1867, he founded the American Bank of Commerce with his son Lorenzo Lombard and others. The bank became one of the largest financial institutions in early Chicago. George Lombard also erected a fine mansion on State Street near Belmont Avenue for his wife Margaret (née Gillett). They lived there until her death in 1893; she is buried there alongside her husband. Lorenzo Lombard was an accomplished businessman and politician who served as mayor of Chicago from 1889 to 1897 and as United States senator from Illinois from 1895 to 1903. He also founded several businesses including the Illinois Mutual Life Insurance Company and National Harvester Co., both of which are still active today. Lorenzo Lombard is considered one of the most significant figures in modernChicago history.
