In 1959, Mayor Richard Jankowski dedicated the new Civic Center which has since been renamed "The John F Kennedy Presidential Library" after Illinois' twenty president - both Ulysses S Grant (1865-1929) and John F Kennedy (1915-1963). The library also houses relics from local history including an early traction engine used by farmers to haul goods to market and a replica of an Illini football helmet dating back to 1907! In 1996, muchrare 3D printing technology made its debut here when two local businesses printed out custom jobs for their customers! Today's economy continues to rely heavily on independent businesses such as arts & crafts retailers which have thrived due to easy access to transportation and quality materials from nearby cities like Chicago and Springfield!

Lombard was a town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 2,834 at the 2010 census. Lombard is located on the main stem of the Chicago River and is part of the greater city of Chicago. The first European to see what is now Lombard was Giovanni da Vincenzo Pennacchi dal Monferrato on July 8, 1492 while sailing for Portugal under Captain João Rodrigues de Queiroz. He named it "Albion" after his own home town of Albion, England. In 1828, John Stephenson built a steamboat navigation channel connecting Buffalo and Toledo that made Lombard an important commercial center during the 1830s and 1840s when shipping traffic between those cities increased significantly. In 1847, General George Armstrong Custer arrived in Indiana Territory seeking new land toPLantation but discovered only kiowa (Cheyenne) Sioux Indians living near what is now Lombard; he left without any land granted him by US President James K. Polk because he considered their lifestyle tooavage for white settlers. From 1868 until 1912, Lombard was part of the Village of Maywood which was consolidated into Cook County on February 15th with all other villages in Cook County except South Holland which remained separate municipalities until 1984 when they were merged into Chicago as a result of a referendum passed by voters in 1984. On November 5th 1893 there was a fire that destroyed most of the buildings in downtown Maywood leaving only four brick buildings standing today: The State House (now City Hall), First National Bank Building (now United States Trust Company Tower), Masonic Temple (now building used as One University Plaza) and Rosedale Cemetery Stables which are still standing today next to modern day Maywood High School complex also known as Old City Hall Complex from 1870-1893 government office buildings etc... Most likely started by accidental sparks from burning oil drums set off during fight over control of natural gas reserves at nearby Welland Landing Lockage Basin some time around this time although no one knows for sure how or why it started... It raged through town destroying everything before finally dying out about 12pm CST inside old Masonic Temple where firefighters had been fighting it all night trying to put out small fire that had already consumed several dozen building supplies including two gasoline tanks cGALLERY OF MAYWOOD FIRE
One of the most important events in Lombard history is the incorporation of the city on November 1, 1847. The incorporation was a result of a referendum that took place in October of that year. At first, Lombard was under the jurisdiction of Decatur County. In 1848, however, Lombard became a separate municipality and was placed within the newly created Johnson County.
