The early days at Lockport were very tough – both physically and mentally! The challenges faced by these pioneers are still remembered today: They had to establish themselves in a new community without any resources whatsoever; build their own homes; farm their own food; etc…… The people here were determined and had high standards when it came to everything they did! Over time, however, things have softened a bit – thanks in part to all those wonderful tablespoons of sugar added into each batch (or so we’re told)!
