Lockport is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 7,598 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The community was founded in 1847 by two men who were looking for a place to build their cotton gin. The first lock on the Central Canal was built in 1848 and became known as "The Lock". In 1861, a post office called Lockport was established and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1906. In 1878, the name of the town changed from Lockport to Lockport Township because it had been organized under that name. In 1907, the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad laid tracks through Lockport and opened it up to traffic. This led to an increase in business and development around the village center; businesses such as banks, hotels, restaurants, and retail stores sprang up along State Street. By 1930, there were more than 20 businesses operating within a one-mile radius of Lockport's central square. Although most residents continued to reside within walking distance of their workplaces until after World War II when they started moving into new subdivisions or rural areas outside oflockport.,the Village Center remains an important local economic center today with over 25 businesses located inside its boundaries

He also designed and submitted the idea to Congress but it never came to fruition. 4) In 1934, NRA founder Leonard Loomis introduced an amendment into the National Firearms Act (NFA) that allowed owners of certain types of handguns (including revolvers and shotguns) to create Tick-Tape Tapes LLCs (the precursor to today’s handgun manufacturers). These weapons could only be possessed by law enforcement officials who had a special permit from NFA administrators. 5) Starting in 1968, Military Arms & Ammunition Manufacturers Association (MAAM), Incorporated began producing camouflage clothing for the United States Armed Forces both domestically and abroad under the banner “United Colors Forever” program. This campaign helped increase sales for military surplus items and lead to new Armalite rifles being made available for civilians purchase beginning in 1971
