The history of scopes in Lisle, Illinois can be traced back to 1871 when E.L. Goodrich and his son, W.H. Goodrich, opened a small store on the corner of Elm and High Streets. From their store, they began selling telescopes and other astronomical equipment to friends and neighbors. The Goodrich family would continue to sell optics products until 1915 when they sold their business to Fenton & Company who continued to sell scopes until 1938 when the business was taken over by Hausfeld Optics Corporation. Over the years, many different companies have bought or operated the Lisle retailer founded by E.LGoodrich which has left its mark on American astronomy through its sales of scopes, books on astronomy, and software for telescopes and observatories across the United States. In 2006, Hausfeld Optics Corporation merged with SBAGOptics Inc., making it one of only four American Scope dealers still operating under that name today (the others being K&N Eclipse Optical Equipment Inc., Baader-Meinhof Optical SystemsUSA Inc., and Bushnell Instruments Division of Bushnell Optical). Lisle is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 7,614 at the 2000 census. Lisle is located on the west side of Chicago and is bordered by Aurora to the north, Midway City to the east, Mount Prospect to the south, and Downers Grove to the west. The first settlement in what is now Lisle was made by Pieter Ambrosius de Courtenay and his family around 1670. It was named after Lord Lisle in England who had given them land for their farmstead. In 1824, David Kirschner moved from Germany with his family and formed a partnership with Nicholas Clausen called Kirschner & Clausen which operated a grocery store and two other businesses until it went out of business in 1828. In 1881 David Kirschner's grandson William Pacheco bought some of what are now Lisle's landmark buildings: The old courthouse (now used as a priest's house), the Masonic temple (now used as a library), and then most significantly The Elm Tree Inn which still stands today at 5th Street and Elm Road. That year also saw an important milestone in town history when city boundaries were redrawn following the creation of Cook County. This area now includes much of downtown Lisle while portionsof southern and eastern Lisle continue to be defined by Aurora Township including parts of Woodlawn Cemetery where locals still bury their dead. On July 1, 1881 100% of citizens over age 25 registered with government property records making it one of only two towns in Cook County that did so;the other being Cicero fifty years later. One significant event during this time came about when John Fenton opened up J&J Cafe across from The Elm Tree Inn soon afterwards becoming known as "Fenton's". This cafe would serve up breakfast until lunch for many people throughout its duration starting off with just three employees before becoming fully operational in 1907 serving up food all day long! Today it remains one of town’s most popular tourist attractions attracting people from all over Chicago vacationing or working nearby like many others that have come since then such as Sears Tower etc... . Another significant early player in town’s history was Driggs Brothers Hardware which opened on North Main Street back in 1886 after being started by brothers Charles (Chuck) Mclntyre Sr., Charles (Chuck) Mclntyre Jr., John Fenton Jr., Harry Daugherty Sr., Harry Daugherty Jr., Addison Weibelmannsmith & Sons Incorporated - commonly referred to simply as "Weibelmannsmith" - who became nationally well-known for their quality merchandise available at centralized stores including Sears also opening up shop there around this time continuing until 1984 when they closed all operations due to economic conditions within Illinois alone! One final note about this time period would be Elmer Smith who prioritizes customer satisfaction through training his employees How To Do Anything And Everything Which led eventually down into later careers such as sales representative for Kmart along with numerous other notable local businesses!
