In 1912, the company merged with two other businesses to become American Optics Company. The company name was changed to Optical America Corporation in 1958.

Lisle, Illinois is a town in DuPage County, Illinois, United States. The population was 8,526 at the 2010 census. Lisle is located on the east bank of the Chicago River and is bordered by Aurora to the north-northwest and Wheaton to the northeast. It has been part of Cook County since 1847. Lisle was platted in 1837 when James Wickersham bought land from John Hargrave. The first post office was established in 1838, and Lisle became a village in 1840. In 1847, Lisle was incorporated as a city with a population of 9,000 people. On January 1, 1957, it merged with Aurora Township to form Lisle-Aurora Township. A new city hall and other municipally sponsored buildings were completed in 2009 within Park Ridge Historic District boundaries while much of the original civic center remains unaltered today thanks to extensive renovations that took place over several years starting in 2007 (see below). The name "Lisle" comes from " Lisso", meaning small stream or creek near Romellon where James Wickersham settled his family in 1836 after moving from England for unknown reasons at about this time (according to one source he may have been searching for an English wife who had not complied with her husband's wishes). The stream ran through what is now downtown Lisle before joining up with the river just south of its current location near State Street/Dickinson Road/Lake Shore Drive - thus providing easy access to all kinds of goods grown along it including cornmeal and flour until railroads came through town which eliminated most trade & transportation opportunities thereby accelerating economic decline along streamfronts w/ few exceptions like lisso where farmers still gathered water daily during dry spells) - making it one possible theory why farming hereabouts declined precipitously starting around 1870 (& any chance this could be vindicated empirically if some positive evidence exists extant supportive of claim that agricultural prices increased significantly locally leading to increased demand for goods produced elsewhere once railways arrived & exposed this older pattern w/o intervening market forces) as well as other factors cited herein... NOTE: This paper does not address any history surrounding Lisle annexation into Aurora Township back on Jan 1st 1957 because such history would provide depth & context beyond what is covered here seeking instead only historical overview which incidentally coincides strikingly with present day park ridge historiography
